The 2015 Qatar Total Open was a professional women's tennis tournament played on hard courts. It was the 13th edition of the event and part of the WTA Premier series of the 2015 WTA Tour. It took place at the International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha, Qatar from 23 February to 28 February. WTA Premier Tournaments
WTA Premier Tournaments was a category of tennis tournaments in the Women's Tennis Association tour, implemented from the reorganization of the schedule in 2009 until 2020. In 2020, Premier events included: * Four "Premier Mandatory" events in Indian Wells, Miami, Madrid, and Beijing with prize money of $4.5 million. * Five "Premier 5" events in Doha, Rome, Cincinnati, Toronto/Montreal, and Wuhan with prize money of $2 million. * Twelve "Premier" events with prize money of $600,000 to $1,000,000. The ranking points awarded to the winners of these tournaments are: * "Premier Mandatory" 1000 * "Premier 5" 900 and * "Premier" 470. This compares to 2,000 points for winning a Grand Slam Tournament ("major"), up to 1,500 points for winning the WTA Finals, and 280 for winning an International tournament. Ekaterina Makarova
Ekaterina Valeryevna Makarova ( rus, Екатери́на Вале́рьевна Мака́рова; ; born 7 June 1988) is a Russian former professional tennis player who was ranked world No. 1 in doubles, and world No. 8 in singles. She is a four-time Grand Slam champion, having won the 2013 French Open, 2014 US Open and 2017 Wimbledon Championships in women's doubles, all alongside compatriot Elena Vesnina, as well as the 2012 US Open in mixed doubles with Bruno Soares. Makarova and Vesnina also finished runners-up at the 2014 and 2018 Australian Opens, 2015 Wimbledon Championships and 2016 French Open. Sabine Lisicki
Sabine Katharina Lisicki (; born 22 September 1989) is a German professional tennis player. Lisicki turned professional in 2006, and her breakthrough came in 2009 when she reached the quarterfinals of the Wimbledon Championships, and also won her first title on the WTA Tour, at the Family Circle Cup. In March 2010, she suffered an ankle injury at the Indian Wells Open that kept her out of competition for five months and saw her fall out of the top 200. Lisicki rebounded in 2011 and won the Eastbourne Classic before entering the Wimbledon Championships as a wildcard and going on to reach the semifinals, where she lost to Maria Sharapova. In doing so she became only the second woman in Wimbledon history to make it to the semifinals while entering the tournament as a wildcard. Dominika Cibulková
Dominika Cibulková (; born 6 May 1989) is a Slovak former professional tennis player. She is the 2016 WTA Finals champion, becoming the fourth player (after Serena Williams in 2001 WTA Tour Championships, 2001, Maria Sharapova in 2004 WTA Tour Championships, 2004 and Petra Kvitová in 2011 WTA Tour Championships, 2011) to win the tournament on her debut. Zheng Saisai
Zheng Saisai or Zheng Sai-Sai (; born February 5, 1994) is a Chinese tennis player. She won one WTA singles title (at the Premier level 2019 Silicon Valley Classic), five WTA doubles titles, and reached the final of the 2019 French Open in doubles with compatriot Duan Yingying. She also won three singles and three doubles titles on WTA 125 tournaments, as well as twelve singles and nine doubles titles on the ITF Circuit.
