James Franklin (American Football Coach)
James Geoffrey Franklin (born February 2, 1972) is an American football coach and former player. Franklin previously served as the head football coach at Penn State Universityfrom 2014 to 2023 and Vanderbilt University from 2011 to 2013. Early years Franklin was born in Langhorne, Pennsylvania, on February 2, 1972, to James Oliver and Jocelyn "Josie" Franklin. He attended Neshaminy High School in Langhorne, and went to college at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania, where he played as a quarterback all four years. In that position, he set seven school records and was a Division II player of the year nominee in 1994. ''Sports Illustrated'' named him a National Player of the Week that season. The Penn State–Temple football rivalry is an American college football rivalry between the Penn State Nittany Lions and Temple Owls. In a series dating back to 1931, Penn State has a series advantage, having won 40 out of 45 games. The schools make up 2 of the 3 universities in the state of Pennsylvania which still compete in the Football Bowl Subdivision of the National Collegiate Athletic Association. History The first game between Temple and Penn State was played in Philadelphia in 1931 with Temple winning by a score of 12–0. Penn State got their first win in the rivalry in 1940 with an 18–0 win over Temple. Ohio Stadium is an American football stadium in Columbus, Ohio, on the campus of Ohio State University.
