North West 200
The International North West 200 is a Northern Irish motorsport event established in 1929 for road racing motorcycles held on a street circuit known as ''the Triangle'' between the towns of Portstewart, Coleraine and Portrush in Causeway Coast and Glens. The course is one of the fastest in the world, with average speeds of and top speeds in excess of . The International North West 200 is one of around fifteen events run on public roads between April and October throughout Northern Ireland. It is the largest annual sporting event in Northern Ireland, with the race weekend attracting over 150,000 visitors from all over the world. Originally intended to be held somewhere in the north west of Ireland and organised by the City of Derry & District Motor Club, the initial event was moved to the north coast but the name was never changed. John McGuinness (motorcycle Racer)
John Warren McGuinness (16 April 1972) is an English specialist Isle of Man TT professional solo motorcycle rider with 23 wins. Until early 2017 he had a long association with Honda machines having factory support in road races like the Isle of Man TT, the North West 200 and the Macau Grand Prix, and also on the short tracks in the British Superstock and Supersport series. Guy Martin (born 4 November 1981) is a British former motorcycle racer and heavy vehicle mechanic who became a television presenter. In July 2017, Martin retired from motorcycle racing. Ian Hutchinson (motorcycle Racer)
Ian Hutchinson (born 12 August 1979 in Bingley, West Yorkshire) is an English professional motorcycle road racer specialising in events held on closed public roads, such as the Isle of Man TT, the North West 200 and Ulster Grand Prix. Hutchinson's most successful racing year was in 2010, when he set the record of winning the most races in a single Isle of Man TT festival in June, achieving five solo wins, preceded by Supersport class at the North West 200 in Northern Ireland. At a British Supersport round in September, Hutchinson crashed in wet conditions soon after the start suffering a badly broken left leg after being hit by a following rider's machine. The leg-break needed many surgical operations and much time to recover. He again fractured the leg in 2012 when riding an off-road bike practicing exhibition-riding for a motorcycle show at the Excel Arena in London. Michael Rutter (motorcycle Racer)
Michael Karl Rutter (born 18 April 1972 in Wordsley, Staffordshire) nicknamed "The Blade", is a British motorcycle racer. He currently races in the National Superstock 1000 Championship aboard a BMW S1000RR. He has a reputation for being at his best in wet conditions and his favourite circuit is Oulton Park. He won 29 British Superbike Championship races with the most recent being at Silverstone in 2010, and finished as series runner-up twice. He has also contested MotoGP and World Superbike Championship events. William Dunlop (23 July 1985 – 7 July 2018) was a professional motorcycle racer from Northern Ireland who died as a result of a racing incident. Part of a motorcycle racing dynasty, William was the elder brother of Michael Dunlop, Michael; both were sons of the late Robert Dunlop, and nephews of the late Joey Dunlop. Jamie Hamilton (born 24 March 1991, in Ballymena) is a Northern Ireland, Northern Irish motorcycle road racing, road racer. He competed in International road races aboard a Suzuki GSX-R1000, a Honda CBR600RR and a Kawasaki ER6. Hamilton suffered major injuries when crashing during the Isle of Man TT, TT races in June 2015, and was discharged from Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast in August, needing future surgery to extend his badly-broken leg. Career He initially pursued a career as a footballer playing for Leicester City under 9's, and Bolton Wanderers under 11's.
