2015 Minor Counties Championship
The 2015 Minor Counties Championship was the 111th Minor Counties Cricket Championship season, and the second under the name 'Unicorn Counties Championship'. It was contested in two divisions: Eastern and Western. Cumberland County Cricket Club, Cumberland won the competition for the third time after defeating Oxfordshire County Cricket Club, Oxfordshire by 10 wickets in the 2015 Minor Counties Championship#Final, final played in Carlisle, Cumbria, Carlisle. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is the Sports governing body, national governing body of cricket in England and Wales. Norfolk County Cricket Club
Norfolk County Cricket Club is one of twenty minor county cricket clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Norfolk. Batting Average (cricket)
In cricket, a player's batting average is the total number of runs they have scored divided by the number of times they have been out, usually given to two decimal places. Since the number of runs a player scores and how often they get out are primarily measures of their own playing ability, and largely independent of their teammates, batting average is a good metric for an individual player's skill as a batter (although the practice of drawing comparisons between players on this basis is not without criticism). The number is also simple to interpret intuitively. If all the batter's innings were completed (i.e. they were out every innings), this is the average number of runs they score per innings. If they did not complete all their innings (i.e. some innings they finished not out), this number is an estimate of the unknown average number of runs they score per innings. Edenside
Edenside is a cricket ground in Carlisle, Cumbria. The ground is the primary home ground of Cumbria County Cricket Club. The first recorded match on the ground was in 1850, when Carlisle played an All-England Eleven. The ground hosted its first Minor Counties Championship match when Cumberland played the Yorkshire Second XI in 1955. From 1955 to present, the ground has hosted 45 Minor Counties Championship matches. To date the ground has not hosted any MCCA Knockout Trophy matches. The ground has hosted 2 List-A matches, the first of which saw Cumberland play Middlesex in the 1996 NatWest Trophy. The second List-A match played on Edenside saw Cumberland play Kent in the 2000 NatWest Trophy. The home county lost both of these matches against their professional, first-class opponents. Not Out
In cricket, a batter is not out if they come out to bat in an innings and have not been dismissed by the end of an innings. The batter is also ''not out'' while their innings is still in progress. Occurrence At least one batter is not out at the end of every innings, because once ten batters are out, the eleventh has no partner to bat on with so the innings ends. Usually two batters finish not out if the batting side declares in first-class cricket, and often at the end of the scheduled number of overs in limited overs cricket. Batters further down the batting order than the not out batters do not come out to the crease at all and are noted as ''did not bat'' rather than ''not out''; by contrast, a batter who comes to the crease but faces no balls is ''not out''. Devon County Cricket Club
Devon County Cricket Club (Devon Cricket) is one of 20 minor county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Devon. The team is currently a member of the National Counties Championship Western Division Two and plays in the NCCA Knockout Trophy. Devon played List A matches occasionally from 1969 until 2005 but is not classified as a List A team 'per se'. The Western Division Two of the National Counties Championship is made up of five teams with each team playing the others in three-day fixtures throughout the season. Devon also play in the 50-overs-a-side MCCA Knock Out Trophy. Wales National County Cricket Club is one of twenty National county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents all of the historic counties of Wales except Glamorgan and is currently the only non-English member of the National Counties Cricket Championship.
