Knattspyrnufélag Reykjavíkur (Reykjavík Football Club), often shortened to KR or KR Reykjavík, is an Icelandic football club based in the Vesturbær district of the capital, Reykjavík. KR is the oldest and most successful club in Icelandic football, having won the Besta deild karla championship 27 times, including the first season in 1912. It is also the most successful club in the Icelandic men's Cup, with 14 titles including the first in 1960 and most recent in 2014. In 1964, KR was also the first Icelandic representative in the European Cup. History Early history KR was established on 16 February 1899, making it the oldest football club in Iceland. Dalvík/Reynir is an Icelandic football club based in Dalvík. The club was formed in 2006 after the merger between UMFS Dalvík & Reynir Árskógsströnd History In 2006 UMFS Dalvík and Reynir Árskógsströnd joined forces to form a new club, Dalvík/Reynir, after Leiftur and Dalvík broke up their cooperation that had formed Leiftur/Dalvík and lasted only four years. This was actually the second time Dalvík and Reynir joined, they first did so in the early 1990s but that time the didn't officially join, Reynir withdrew from the football league and most of the players and staff joined Dalvík. After Dalvík and Leiftur formed Leiftur/Dalvík, Reynir resurfaced and joined the league again with mostly young players from Dalvík that weren't in the Leiftur/Dalvík regular squad. ''Hrafnkels saga'' (; ) or ''Hrafnkels saga Freysgoða'' (O.N.: ; Ice.: ) is one of the Icelanders' sagas. It tells of struggles between chieftains and farmers in the east of Iceland in the 10th century. The eponymous main character, Hrafnkell, starts out his career as a fearsome duelist and a dedicated worshiper of the god Freyr. After suffering defeat, humiliation, and the destruction of his temple, he becomes an atheist. His character changes and he becomes more peaceful in dealing with others. After gradually rebuilding his power base for several years, he achieves revenge against his enemies and lives out the rest of his life as a powerful and respected chieftain. The saga has been interpreted as the story of a man who arrives at the conclusion that the true basis of power does not lie in the favor of the gods but in the loyalty of one's subordinates. Íþróttafélagið Höttur is an Icelandic sports club from Egilsstaðir in the center, of the east side of Iceland. It is primarily known for its basketball, football and track & field departments but also fields departments in badminton, gymnastics, handball, swimming, taekwondo and volleyball. The club was founded in 1952 as Ungmennafélagið Höttur. On 19 February 1974 it merged with Knattspyrnufélagið Spyrnir and became Íþróttafélagið Höttur.
