2015 IWBF Men's European Championship
The 2015 IWBF Men's European Championship was the 22nd edition of the European Wheelchair Basketball Championship held in Worcester, Great Britain from 28 August to 6 September 2015. The tournament also took place during the women's European championship as well. Twelve teams entered the tournament with the Czech Republic and Israel competing in the tournament after being promoted from Division B in 2014. The teams were separated into two groups of six with the top four teams from each group qualifying through to the knockout stage while the bottom two competed to stay off relegation. The remaining eight teams competed in a knockout format until the top two teams made the final. In the gold medal match, Great Britain won the match 87-66 over Turkey. While in the bronze medal match, Germany defeated the Netherlands 74-56. Wheelchair basketball at the 2016 Summer Paralympics will be held from 8 to 17 September at Carioca Arena 1 and the Rio Olympic Arena in Rio de Janeiro. Competition format In the men's tournament, twelve qualified nations are drawn into two groups, each consisting of six teams, where each team meets the other teams once. The four highest placed teams in each group advance to a knock-out round to decide the medals 4th to 8th places. The fifth-placed teams meet each other over the 9th and 10th places, and the sixth-placed teams meet each other over the 11th and 12th places. In the women's tournament, ten qualified nations are drawn into two groups, each consisting of five teams, where each team meets the other teams once, just like the men's tournament. The 2013 IWBF Men's European Championship was the 21st edition of the European Wheelchair Basketball Championship held in Frankfurt, Germany from 27 June to 8 July 2013. Nations ranked 1 to 7 are qualified for participation at the 2014 World Championship in Incheon, South Korea. Squads Each of the 12 teams selected a squad of 12 players for the tournament. Spain Men's National Wheelchair Basketball Team
Spain men's national wheelchair basketball team has represented Spain at the IWBF European Championships, IWBF World Championships and at the Paralympic Games. The team won a bronze at the 2013 European Championships. They finished fifth at the 2012 Summer Paralympics, and sixth at the 1992 Summer Paralympics. Spain also has a men's national under-22 team and under-23 team. The under-23 team finished second at the 2009 Paris European Championships.
