2015 Horizon League Women's Basketball Tournament
The 2015 Horizon League women's basketball tournament, held from March 9–15, concluded the 2014–15 season of the Horizon League. For the first time, every game was available on an ESPN Network. Rounds 1 & 2 were on ESPN3, with the semifinals on TWCS and simulcast on ESPN3. Kress Events Center
The Kress Events Center, also known as the KEC or the Kress, is a multipurpose athletic facility located in Green Bay, Wisconsin on the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay campus. The facility's main gym (Kress Events Center Arena) hosts the UW-Green Bay women's basketball and volleyball teams. Other facilities onsite include a fitness center shared by athletes and the student body, athletic training facilities, and the administrative offices of UW-Green Bay's athletics program. 2014–15 Green Bay Phoenix Women's Basketball Team
The 2014–15 Green Bay Phoenix women's basketball team represented the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay in the 2014–15 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. Their head coach, Kevin Borseth, was in the third season of his second stint at Green Bay and 12th overall at the school. The Phoenix played their home games at the Kress Events Center and were members of the Horizon League. It was the 36th season of Green Bay women's basketball. Kevin Borseth
Kevin Paul Borseth (born June 9, 1954) is the current head women's basketball coach at The University of Wisconsin–Green Bay. Career A native of Bessemer, Michigan, he has compiled a 477–186 record in 22 years as a head basketball coach. He has compiled twenty consecutive winning campaigns, and fifteen 20-win seasons. His teams have either won or shared thirteen conference titles, and won their conference tournament eight times. In sixteen of his twenty-one seasons, his teams have gone to the postseason—including thirteen NCAA appearances with only three WNIT appearances. Horizon League
The Horizon League is an 11-school collegiate athletic conference in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I, whose members are located in and near the Great Lakes region. The Horizon League founded in 1979 as the Midwestern City Conference. The conference changed its name to Midwestern Collegiate Conference in 1985 and then the Horizon League in 2001. The conference started with a membership of six teams and has fluctuated in size with 24 different schools as members at different times. The League currently has 11 members. 2015 NCAA Women's Division I Basketball Tournament
The 2015 NCAA Division I women's basketball tournament was played between March and April 2015, with the Final Four played April 5 & 7. The regional locations, after a one-year experiment allowing tournament teams to host, returned to four neutral sites: Oklahoma City, Spokane, Greensboro and Albany. The subregionals were played 20–23 March, while the regionals were played 27–30 March. This represented a change; in the past, the rounds were played starting on a Saturday and ending on a Tuesday. In 2015, the opening rounds and regionals (but not the Final Four) were played starting on a Friday and ending on a Monday. The Final Four was played at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida. For only the third time in history, all four of the number one seeds made it to the Final Four. Tennessee continued its record streak of making every NCAA women's basketball tournament at 34 consecutive appearances. Bye (sports)
In sport, a bye is the preferential status of a player or team that is automatically advanced to the next round of a tournament, without having to play an opponent in an early round. In knockout (elimination) tournaments they can be granted either to reward the highest ranked participant(s) or assigned randomly, to make a working bracket if the number of participants is not a power of two (e.g. 16 or 32). In round-robin tournaments, usually one competitor gets a bye in each round when there are an odd number of competitors, as it is impossible for all competitors to play in the same round. However, over the whole tournament, each plays the same number of games as well as sitting out for the same number of rounds.
