Fort Lauderdale Strikers (2006–2016)
The Fort Lauderdale Strikers were an American professional soccer team based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida founded in 2006, that last played in the North American Soccer League (NASL), the second tier of the American soccer pyramid in 2016. The majority of their home games were played in Lockhart Stadium. The Strikers were named after the original Strikers, who played in the old North American Soccer League from 1977 to 1983. The team was known as Miami FC from 2006 until 2011 before re-branding as the Strikers in 2011. They had an in-state rivalry with the Tampa Bay Rowdies. Iván Guerrero
Mario Iván Guerrero Ramírez (born 30 November 1977) is a Honduran former footballer who last played for Fort Lauderdale Strikers in the North American Soccer League. He was the club captain and also served as an assistant coach. Career Club Guerrero began his career with F.C. Motagua in Honduras, playing with the team from 1996 until transferring overseas in 2000. He moved to the English Premiership to play for Coventry City along with compatriot Jairo Martínez. He left the UK in October 2002 to rejoin Motagua and then moved to C.A. Peñarol in Uruguay in 2004, before his move to Chicago Fire of Major League Soccer. Aly Alberto Hassan (born May 15, 1989) is an American Professional soccer player. Career On March 19, 2012, the Strikers announced that Hassan had signed professional terms with the Fort Lauderdale Strikers following a successful preseason trial. Hassan made his professional debut with the Strikers against FC Edmonton on April 7, 2012, in the first game of the 2012 NASL season. Hassan was sent off 40 minutes into the match, following a questionable tackle on Edmonton's Fabrice Lassonde. In his next home match, Hassan scored a hat-trick, his first professional goals, to lift the Strikers to a 3–2 victory against the Puerto Rico Islanders. Hassan recorded his second hat-trick of the season less than a month later, scoring three times against Fresno Fuego in the U.S. Open Cup Second Round match on May 22. The FIU Panthers (also known as Florida INT Panthers) are the athletic teams representing Florida International University, an American public university located in Westchester, Florida. Shawn Nicklaw (born April 15, 1989) is a Guamanian retired professional footballer who is currently an assistant coach for the Saint Mary's Gaels men's soccer team.
