2015 Formula Lites Season
The 2015 Formula Lites season was the inaugural and only season of the Formula Lites series, an open wheel motor racing championship powered by Honda and sanctioned by the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA). It began on 30 May at the Thompson Speedway in Thompson, Connecticut and ended on 20 September at the MSR Houston in Angleton, Texas, after six double-header rounds. After this inaugural season, SCCA Pro Racing ended the series. The Formula Lites series was a single-seater formula racing class launched for 2015. The series was sanctioned by SCCA Pro Racing. History The High Performance Group and Crawford Composites announced the creation of the Formula Lites Series in 2014. Dane Cameron debuted the car at Virginia International Raceway during the 2014 Ultimate Track Car Challenge. The first race of the Formula Lites Series was run at the Thompson Speedway Road Course. Driver Nick Neri won the inaugural event. The series saw only six entries at every race during its initial season. The 2016 schedule was announced but no races occurred, ending the series. Car The drivers all used the spec car, the Crawford FL-15, designed and constructed by Crawford Composites. Cameron Das
Cameron Das (born March 17, 2000) is an American racing driver who last competed in the Euroformula Open Championship with Team Motopark. In 2016 Das became the first champion of the United States Formula 4 Championship. Career Karting and national championships Das started karting at Autobahn Indoor Speedway in Jessup, Maryland. In 2015 Das earned his licence to compete in single seaters at the Bertil Roos Racing School. Das made his competition debut in the Bertil Roos Race Series at the Pocono International Raceway east road course. After scoring his first pole position at NJMP Thunderbolt, Das finished fifteenth in the series standings competing a partial schedule. Coached by Jonathan Scarallo, Das scored five podium finishes. Besides the Bertil Roos Race Series the young driver competed at the Carolina Motorsports Park round of the 2015 Formula Lites season. Fountain, Colorado
The City of Fountain is a home rule municipality located in El Paso County, Colorado, United States. The city population was 29,802 at the 2020 United States Census, a +15.31% increase since the 2010 United States Census. Pikes Peak International Raceway
Pikes Peak International Raceway (PPIR) is a racetrack in the Colorado Springs area within the city limits of Fountain, Colorado, that by October 12, 1997, was "the fastest 1-mile paved oval anywhere". The speedway hosted races in several series including the Indy Racing League and two NASCAR series ( Busch and Truck) until operations were suspended from 2005–08. A wide variety of amateur racing groups use PPIR for racing and training as the circuit is now closed to sanctioned professional auto racing due to the purchase of the track by PPIR LLC from NASCAR/ISC in 2008 after the track was put up for sale in 2006. Virginia International Raceway (commonly known as "VIR") is a race track located in Alton, Virginia, near Danville. It is less than a half-mile from the North Carolina/Virginia border just outside Milton, North Carolina, on the banks of the Dan River. VIR hosts amateur and professional automobile and motorcycle events, driving schools, club days, and private test rentals. Nick Neri
Nick Neri (born May 12, 1995, in Palmetto, Florida) is an American racing driver. Neri has won various karting championships and has also competed in auto racing championships. As of 2022, he has participated in 24 races and won 5 of them Career Karting Neri started karting when he was six years old at Tri-City Kart Club in Pinellas Park, Florida. After three consecutive Kid Karts class championships, Neri moved to the World Karting Association Florida Championship Series. He won 10 championships in the Florida Championships Series between 2003 and 2006. Neri won his first national World Karting Association title in 2006, winning the HPV Sportsman title. He also won races in the prestigious Florida Winter Tour and Stars of Karting championships. Neri raced in various karting classes including JICA and different Rotax Max classes.
