2015 Edmonton Eskimos Season
The Edmonton Eskimos season was the 58th season for the team in the Canadian Football League and their 67th overall. The Eskimos finished with a 14-4 record and in first place in the West Division for the first time since 2003. The team won the franchise's 14th Grey Cup championship 26–20 over the Ottawa Redblacks in their first Grey Cup appearance since 2005. Canadian Football League West Division
The West Division is one of the two regional divisions of the Canadian Football League (CFL), its counterpart being the East Division (CFL), East Division. Although the CFL was not founded until 1958, the West Division and its clubs are descended from earlier leagues. The five teams in the West Division are the BC Lions, Calgary Stampeders, Edmonton Elks, Saskatchewan Roughriders, and Winnipeg Blue Bombers. In gridiron football, a lineman is a player who specializes in play at the line of scrimmage. The linemen of the team currently in possession of the ball are the offensive line, while linemen on the opposing team are the defensive line. 2016 CFL Draft
The 2016 CFL Draft took place on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at 7:00 PM ET on TSN2 and RDS2. 70 players were chosen from among eligible players from Canadian Universities across the country, as well as Canadian players playing in the NCAA. The draft was expanded to eight rounds, which is the most since there were eight rounds in the 1992 CFL Draft. This draft also featured the most draft selections since 1987 when 72 players were drafted. The entity which owns both TSN2 and RDS2 showed the first round of the draft on its cable TV platforms with subsequent rounds streamed on TSN GO online. Cory Watson
Cory Watson (born March 27, 1984) is a wide receivers coach for the Concordia Stingers of U Sports football. He was formerly a professional Canadian football wide receiver who was drafted ninth overall by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the 2010 CFL Draft and played for five seasons with the club. He was also a member of the Saskatchewan Roughriders, Edmonton Eskimos and BC Lions. He also played CIS football for the Stingers. Professional career Winnipeg Blue Bombers Watson joined the Winnipeg Blue Bombers after being drafted by them in the 2nd round of the 2010 CFL Draft. In his rookie season in the league he played in 15 games, totalling 277 yards on 17 receptions. He caught his first touchdown pass in the final game of that season. The Angelo State Rams football team represents Angelo State University in NCAA Division II college football. The Rams compete in the South Division of the Lone Star Conference. Angelo State has earned one national title and three conference titles since becoming a member of the Lone Star Conference. Blair Smith
Blair Smith (born September 25, 1990) is a Canadian football linebacker who is a free agent. He attended Angelo State University where he played college football for the Angelo State Rams. He played for the Edmonton Eskimos from 2015 to 2020. Early career Smith played high school football for St. Marcellinius Secondary School, and went on to play at Vanier College. In 2011, he transferred to St. Francis Xavier University and played for the St. Francis Xavier X-Men as a defensive back. Andrew Johnson (Canadian Football)
Andrew Johnson (December 29, 1808July 31, 1875) was the 17th president of the United States, serving from 1865 to 1869. He assumed the presidency following the assassination of Abraham Lincoln, as he was vice president at that time. Johnson was a Democrat who ran with Lincoln on the National Union Party ticket, coming to office as the Civil War concluded. He favored quick restoration of the seceded states to the Union without protection for the newly freed people who were formerly enslaved. This led to conflict with the Republican-dominated Congress, culminating in his impeachment by the House of Representatives in 1868. He was acquitted in the Senate by one vote. The Calgary Dinos are the athletic teams that represent the University of Calgary in Alberta, Canada. They were known as the "Dinosaurs" but usually referred to as the "Dinos" until 1999, when the name was officially shortened. Some of its venues are the Jack Simpson Gymnasium (basketball m/w, volleyball m/w, track and field m/w), McMahon Stadium (football, soccer m/w), Hawkings Field (field hockey), University of Calgary Aquatic Centre (swimming, often shortened to Aquatic Centre) and a 200m Running Track (cross-country and track & field practices). Linebacker
Linebacker (LB) is a playing position in gridiron football. Linebackers are members of the defensive team, and line up three to five yards behind the line of scrimmage and the defensive linemen. They are the "middle ground" of defenders, playing closer to the line of scrimmage than the defensive backs (secondary), but farther back than the defensive linemen. Adam Konar
Adam Konar (born October 10, 1993) is a Canadian football linebacker for the Edmonton Elks of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He was originally drafted 25th overall in the 2015 CFL Draft by the Edmonton Eskimos and played for four seasons with the team. He played CIS football for the Calgary Dinos. Early career Konar played high school football for the Fighting Irish of Vancouver College as a running back and linebacker. In 2009, Konar suffered a broken fibula and missed post-season games. He was named MVP of the 2010 Subway Bowl with three touchdowns on offence and two interceptions on defence.
