2015 Challenge Cup
The 2015 Challenge Cup, (also known as the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup for sponsorship reasons) was the 114th staging of the rugby league tournament for teams in the Super League, the British National Leagues and a number of invited amateur clubs. The defending champions Leeds Rhinos retained the trophy beating Hull Kingston Rovers 50-0 at Wembley Stadium on 29 August 2015. First round The draw for the first round of the 2015 Challenge Cup was held on 8 January 2015 at Wembley Stadium and featured 40 amateur teams from around the United Kingdom including two student teams, all three armed services and the police. Home teams were drawn by Martin Offiah and the away teams drawn by Brian Noble. Fixtures for the first round were mostly played over the weekend of the 31 January – 1 February 2015. Leeds Rhinos
The Leeds Rhinos are a professional rugby league club in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. The club was formed in 1870 as Leeds St John's and play in the Super League, the top tier of English rugby league. They have played home matches at Headingley Stadium since 1890. In 1895, Leeds was one of twenty-two rugby clubs that broke away from the Rugby Football Union and formed what was originally the Northern Union, but is now the Rugby Football League. The club was known simply as Leeds until the end of the 1996 season, when they added Rhinos to their name. Walney Central
Walney Island, also known as the Isle of Walney, is an island off the west coast of England, at the western end of Morecambe Bay in the Irish Sea. It is part of Barrow-in-Furness, separated from the mainland by Walney Channel, which is spanned by the Jubilee Bridge. Walney is the largest island of the Furness Islands group, both in population and size, as well as the largest English island in the Irish Sea. Egremont Rangers is an amateur rugby league club in Egremont, Cumbria, which plays at Gillfoot Park and competes in the National Conference League Division 1. Kells, Whitehaven
Kells is an area of Whitehaven in Cumbria, England, elevated on a cliff to the south of the town centre, overlooking the Irish sea. The population of this ward at the 2011 census was 2,437. Kells was built as a coal mining community. A cable railway, the Corkickle Brake, was opened in 1881 to connect the pits at the top of the steep incline to the railway line in Whitehaven town below. As the pits closed, the Corkickle Brake was abandoned in 1932. It was re-opened in 1955 to serve the Marchon chemical works (later a division of Albright and Wilson) in Kells. When the Brake was again closed in 1986, it was the last standard gauge cable railway operating in the UK. With the change from phosphate-based detergents, the Marchon works was the victim of a gradual winding down process and finally closed in 2006. United Services Recreation Ground
The United Services Recreation Ground is a sports ground situated in Burnaby Road, Portsmouth, Hampshire, England. The ground is also bordered to the north by Park Road, along which the railway line to Portsmouth Harbour and Gunwharf Quays overlooks the ground, and to the east by Anglesea Road. The southern end of the ground is dominated by the Officer's Club building, which overlooks the ground. The ground is owned by The Crown. Saddleworth Rangers
Saddleworth Rangers are an amateur Rugby League side, formed in 1930, based at Shaw Hall Bank Road, Greenfield, Greater Manchester in the Saddleworth district of Oldham. The club has teams at a number of levels from junior to the first team, which competes in the National Conference League Division One. In 1993 they won the National Conference League Premier Division.. Myton Warriors
Myton Warriors are an amateur rugby league club based in the Myton area of Kingston upon Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire. They compete in the BARLA National Conference League Premier Division, the top tier of amateur rugby league in England, and the fourth overall tier of rugby league in England. Normanton (rugby League)
Normanton is an amateur rugby league club based in Normanton, a small town within the City of Wakefield in West Yorkshire, England. The club joined the Northern Union in 1898–99 and played for a total of five seasons until 1905–06. They played at the Mopsey Garth ground. The club started out as founder members of the Yorkshire Senior Competition Division 2 (East), and moved as the competition structures changed. Scarborough Pirates RLFC were a rugby league club based in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, England. They played their home games at Scarborough F.C.'s McCain Stadium. History In December 1990, Scarborough announced an intention to apply for membership of the RFL. Scarborough Pirates RLFC were admitted as a member club in January 1991; getting exactly the minimum number of votes required.
