2015 BBC Music Awards
The 2015 BBC Music Awards was the second music award show, created out of the BBC's strategy for music, BBC Music, in 2015. The awards were held on 10 December 2015 at the new location of the Genting Arena in Birmingham following the closure on 13 December 2014 of the Earls Court Exhibition Centre in London, which held the inaugural event. Once again, the awards recognise the biggest and most exciting artists from the previous 12 months, as well as looking forward to new talent in 2016. A panel of judges decides the winners of each category, except 'Song of the Year', which is decided by the public. The show was hosted by English television and radio hosts Chris Evans and Fearne Cotton. It was a rainy night and many fans lined up along the red carpet to take photos with the artists arriving. Genting Arena
The Resorts World Arena is a multipurpose indoor arena located at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Solihull, England. It has a capacity of 15,685 seats. The venue was built as the seventh hall of the NEC complex. After 18 months of construction, the arena opened as the "Birmingham International Arena" in December 1980 with a concert by Queen. In 2019, Resorts World Arena had the 5th highest ticket sales of an arena venue in the United Kingdom. The Ticket Factory is the official box office for the Resorts World Arena. History The venue was known as Birmingham International Arena until 1 September 1983, then as NEC Arena from 5 September 1983 to 31 August 2008. The song was released worldwide on 31 July 2015 and was the band's first single since Zayn Malik's departure earlier that same year. James Michael Bay (born 4 September 1990) is an English singer-songwriter and guitarist. In 2014, he released his single "Hold Back the River (James Bay song), Hold Back the River", which was certified platinum, before releasing his debut studio album ''Chaos and the Calm'' (2014). The album went to number one in the UK and number 15 in the US. In February 2015, Bay received the Brit Awards "Critics' Choice" award. "Cheerleader" is a song recorded by Jamaican singer Omi. The track was written and produced by OMI and Clifton Dillon, Mark Bradford, and Ryan Dillon. OMI first began developing the song in 2008, when he created its melody. It was refined over several years alongside famed Jamaican producer Clifton Dillon. It was first recorded with veteran session musicians Sly and Robbie and Dean Fraser. Omar Samuel Pasley (born 3 September 1986), better known by his stage name OMI ( ), is a Jamaican singer. He is best known for "Cheerleader", a worldwide hit for him in a remixed version by German DJ Felix Jaehn. He is currently signed to Ultra Music, a part of Sony Music, and released his debut album ''Me 4 U'' in 2015. Career Beginnings Omar Samuel Pasley was born in the parish of Clarendon. "Take Me to Church" is a song by Irish singer-songwriter Hozier (musician), Hozier. It was released as his debut single on 13 September 2013, originally featuring on his extended play of the same name, before being featured as the opening track of his 2014 debut album ''Hozier (album), Hozier''. "C'est la Vie" is a song by Welsh rock band Stereophonics. It is the opening track on their 2015 album '' Keep the Village Alive'' and was released as the album's lead single on 12 May 2015 as a digital download. The record was produced by lead-singer Kelly Jones and Jim Lowe while the singer wrote the song. It received a positive response though it is one of the band's lowest charters in the UK.
