2015 Alberta Scotties Tournament Of Hearts
The 2015 Jiffy Lube Alberta Scotties Tournament of Hearts, Alberta's provincial women's curling championship, was held from January 21 to 25 at the Lacombe Arena in Lacombe, Alberta. The winning team Val Sweeting team represented Alberta at the 2015 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Moose Jaw. Lacombe, Alberta
Lacombe ( ) is a city in central Alberta, Canada. It is located approximately north of Red Deer, the nearest major city, and south of Edmonton, the nearest metropolitan area. The city is set in the rolling parkland of central Alberta, between the Rocky Mountains foothills to the west and the flatter Alberta prairie to the east. Lacombe became Alberta's 17th city on September 5, 2010. History Lacombe is named after Albert Lacombe (28 February 1827 — 12 December 1916), a French-Canadian Roman Catholic Oblate missionary who lived among and evangelized the Cree and Blackfoot First Nations of western Canada. CCA Rankings
The Canadian Team Ranking System (CTRS) is a point system used by Curling Canada to rank men's and women's curling teams across Canada. They are determined through points earned in various curling bonspiels held worldwide throughout the season. CTRS points are the basis of the World Curling Tour's Order of Merit and are also used as criteria in identifying teams that qualify for the Canadian Olympic Curling Trials. Beginning in 2018, the top two CTRS teams that do not otherwise qualify for the Scotties Tournament of Hearts or Tim Hortons Brier will earn the right to compete in a play-in game for a wildcard berth in those tournaments. Jen Gates
Jennifer Gates (born April 22, 1990) is a Canadian curler from Sudbury, Ontario. Gates is a two-time Canadian university champion and a two-time Northern Ontario provincial champion. Career Bantam and junior curling During her bantam and junior curling years, Gates played on Team Lilly (formerly Team Maloney) out of the Idylwylde Curling Club in Sudbury, Ontario. The team represented Northern Ontario at the 2004 Ontario Winter Games in London, Ontario. The team also represented Northern Ontario at the Canadian Junior Curling Championships in 2009, 2010, and 2011, where Gates played second. The team's best finish was in 2010 in Sorel-Tracy, Quebec, where they finished the round robin with a 9–3 record and went on to take a bronze medal. Taylor McDonald
Taylor Rae McDonald (born May 12, 1993) is a Canadian curler from Edmonton. She currently plays lead on Team Casey Scheidegger. McDonald previously played second for Team Laura Walker and Team Kelsey Rocque, with whom she won gold at the 2014 World Junior Curling Championships and the 2017 Winter Universiade. Career Juniors McDonald began her junior curling career in the 2011–12 season on Team Kelsey Rocque. In 2014, her team of Rocque, third Keely Brown, lead Claire Tully and coach Amanda-Dawn Coderre won the 2014 Alberta Junior Curling Championship with a 6–5 win over 2012 Canadian Junior champion Jocelyn Peterman in the final. Laura Walker (born November 19, 1990 as Laura Crocker) is a Canadian curler from Edmonton, Alberta. She is a two-time Canadian University champion, a national junior champion, world junior silver medallist and world mixed doubles bronze medallist. Walker is originally from Scarborough, Ontario. Career Juniors Walker began her junior curling career as a skip. In 2008, her Scarboro Golf & Country Club rink made it to the provincial junior championships where her team finished with a 2–5 record. In 2010, Walker was invited to join the Rachel Homan junior rink at the second position. The team's regular second, Alison Kreviazuk, was too old to play in juniors that season (but played with the team in World Curling Tour events). Crystal Webster (born as Crystal Rumberg on February 26, 1975, in Medicine Hat, Alberta) is a Canadian curler from Calgary, Alberta. Career Juniors Webster made her national curling debut at the 1994 Canadian Junior Curling Championships. This would be her first and only appearance at the junior championships. She was skipping her own team, representing Alberta at the championship. They would miss the playoffs, finishing round robin with a 6–5 record. 1998–2001 In 1998 Webster joined up with and played lead for Calgary skip Cheryl Bernard. The team would have a successful year, finishing third in the Husky Autumn Gold Classic, second in the Saskatoon Classic, winning the Skyreach Curling Classic and finished second place on the curling tour money list. Shannon Kleibrink
Shannon Kleibrink (born October 7, 1968 in Norquay, Saskatchewan) is a retired Canadian curler from Okotoks, Alberta. She and her team of third Amy Nixon, second Glenys Bakker, lead Christine Keshen and alternate Sandra Jenkins represented Canada at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy. They won a bronze medal. Career As a junior curler, Kleibrink lost in the final of the 1987 junior provincial championships, and in the Alberta final to qualify for the Canada Winter Games, both to LaDawn Funk. After losing in the final of the 1991 Alberta Scott Tournament of Hearts, Kleibrink won the 1993 provincial title, defeating Funk in the final. This qualified her to represent Alberta at the 1993 Scott Tournament of Hearts, Canada's national curling championship.
