2014–15 VfL Wolfsburg Season
The 2014–15 VfL Wolfsburg season was the 70th season in the club's football history. In the previous season, Wolfsburg had finished in the fifth place, with only one point separating them from the UEFA Champions League spot occupied by Bayer Leverkusen. VfL Wolfsburg
Verein für Leibesübungen Wolfsburg e. V., commonly known as VfL Wolfsburg () or Wolfsburg, is a German professional sports club based in Wolfsburg, Lower Saxony. The club grew out of a multi-sports club for Volkswagen workers in the city of Wolfsburg. It is best known for its football department, but other departments include badminton, handball and athletics. The men's professional football team play in the Bundesliga, the top tier of the German football league system. Marcel Schäfer (born 7 June 1984) is a retired German professional footballer. He is currently the Sporting Director for VfL Wolfsburg. Career 1860 Munich Schäfer made his debut in the Bundesliga on matchday 11, 1 November 2003, as TSV 1860 Munich defeated VfL Bochum 3–1. After descending to the 2. Bundesliga at the end of that season, he established himself in the following years as a regular player. Josuha Jérémy Akoi Fara Guilavogui (born 19 September 1990) is a French professional footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder for Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg. Luiz Gustavo Dias (born 23 July 1987) is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder for Saudi Professional League club Al-Nassr. He began his career as a left back, but has played mostly as a defensive midfielder, and also as a centre back. Max Grün
Maximilian "Max" Grün (born 5 April 1987) is a German professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Regionalliga Bayern club Viktoria Aschaffenburg. Club career Grün began his career with FV Karlstadt, before in summer 2002, he was scouted by Bayern Munich. After three years in Bayern's youth setup, he was promoted to the reserve team, where he served as the backup goalkeeper for four years, behind Michael Rensing and later Thomas Kraft. Junior Malanda
Bernard Malanda-Adje (28 August 1994 – 10 January 2015), nicknamed Junior Malanda, was a Belgian professional footballer who last played for German club VfL Wolfsburg as a defensive midfielder. He was a youth team player at Brussels, Anderlecht and Lille, going on to play in the reserve team of the latter. In 2012, he joined Zulte Waregem, and was a regular player as they finished runners-up of the 2012–13 Belgian Pro League. After that he was signed by Wolfsburg of the Bundesliga on a five-year contract, loaning him back for the first season before recalling him. He also represented Belgium up to under-21 level. Malanda died at the age of 20, when a car in which he was travelling crashed in northern Germany, killing him instantly. The crash was attributed to excessive speed and wet conditions. André Horst Schürrle (; born 6 November 1990) is a German former professional footballer who played as a forward. He began his career at Mainz 05 in 2009, spending two years at the club before a £6.5 million transfer to Bayer 04 Leverkusen. His performances there gained the attention of Chelsea, who signed him for a reported £18 million in 2013. Christian Träsch (born 1 September 1987) is a German former professional footballer who played as a right-back or defensive midfielder. Club career Träsch had his professional debut on 3 February 2008 against Schalke 04. He scored his first goal for VfB Stuttgart on 5 October 2008 against Werder Bremen from a 25-meter volley.
