The 2014–15 National League A season was the eighth ice hockey season of Switzerland's top hockey league, the National League A. Overall, it is the 77th season of Swiss professional hockey. National League A
The National League (NL) is a professional ice hockey league in Switzerland and is the top tier of the Swiss league system. Prior to the 2017–18 season, the league was known as National League A. During the 2018–19 season, the league had an average of 6,949 spectators per game which is the highest among European leagues (ahead of the KHL with 6,397 and the DEL with 6,215). The capital city's club SC Bern has been ranked first of all European clubs for 18 seasons and had an average attendance of 16,290 after the regular season. The ZSC Lions are another club in the top ten of European ice hockey attendance, ranking seventh with 9,694 spectators. Season structure During the regular season, each of the 14 teams play 52 games. The top eight teams after the regular season qualify for the playoffs to determine the Swiss champion in best-of-seven series. Ambrì
Ambrì is a Swiss village in the municipality of Quinto, Leventina District, Canton of Ticino. Geography Ambrì is located in the Leventina Valley, upon the southwestern shore of Ticino river and below the Lepontine Alps, next to the neighboring village of Piotta. Other villages close to Ambrì are Rodi and Fiesso. It is 2 km far from Quinto, 7 from Airolo and 50 from Bellinzona. Sports The village is known throughout Switzerland for being home to National League (NL) team HC Ambrì-Piotta, that plays in the 6,500-seat Valascia, but is set to move into a new arena by 2021. Ambrì is also a popular area for hiking. Transport Ambrì also has its own airport, Ambrì Airport. The airport was a military one until 1994. Now it hosts events, flight school and more. Kolping Arena
Stimo Arena is an indoor arena in Kloten, Switzerland. It is primarily used for ice hockey and is the home arena of the Kloten Flyers. In 2008 the Eishalle Schluefweg was renamed Kolping Arena due to a sponsoring deal. In 2015 it was then again renamed to Swiss Arena. The Swiss Arena holds 7,624 people and was renovated in 1997. In 2004, the arena played host to the finals of the 2004 Men's World Floorball Championships and in 2009 it was one of the hosts of the IIHF World Championships. Kloten is a municipality in the district of Bülach in the canton of Zürich in Switzerland, and belongs to the Glatt Valley (german: Glatttal). History Kloten is first mentioned in 1155 as ''Chlotun''. Geography Kloten is located in the Glatt Valley, some north of the city of Zürich. Patinoire Des Vernets
Patinoire des Vernets is an indoor arena located in Geneva, Switzerland. It is primarily used for ice hockey and is the home arena of Genève-Servette HC. Opened in 1958, it has a seating capacity for 7,135 people. History When it opened in 1958, the arena had a total of 11,820 spectators. In 1992 a renovation took place, which reduced the capacity to 6,837 places. In 2009 a further modernization took place, whereby more seats were created and the audience capacity rose to 7,202. The arena hosted the 1962 FIBA Champions Cup final in which Dynamo Tbilisi of Georgia (then Soviet Georgia) defeated Real Madrid 90–83. BCF Arena
BCF Arena (formerly Patinoire Saint-Léonard) is an indoor sporting arena in Fribourg, Switzerland. Built in 1983 and then completely rebuilt from 2018 to 2020, the capacity of the arena is 9,009 spectators. It is the home arena of ice hockey team HC Fribourg-Gottéron of the National League. Major renovations began in the summer of 2018 to increase the arena's capacity from 6,500 to 8,934 and were completed two years later in the summer of 2020. Vaillant Arena
Eisstadion Davos is an indoor arena in Davos, Switzerland. It is primarily used for ice hockey and is the home arena of HC Davos. It holds 7,080 people, of which 3,280 are seated. Every year the Spengler Cup is played in this arena. Major renovation of the arena started at the conclusion of the 2017-18 season to upgrade most of the stands and the concourse. The seating capacity will not be increased and the total cost should be around CHF 27 million. Construction began in 2018 and is expected to be completed by 2021.
