2014–15 Marshall Thundering Herd Men's Basketball Team
The 2014–15 Marshall Thundering Herd men's basketball team represented Marshall University during the 2014–15 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Thundering Herd, led by first year head coach Dan D'Antoni, played their home games at the Cam Henderson Center and were members of Conference USA. They finished the season 11–21, 7–11 in C-USA play to finish in a tie for eleventh place. They lost in the first round of the C-USA tournament to WKU. Previous season The Thundering Herd finished the season 11–22, 4–12 in C-USA play to finish in a tie for fourteenth place. They advanced to the second round of the C-USA tournament where they lost to Old Dominion. At the end of the season, head coach Tom Herrion's remaining contract was bought out. Dan D'Antoni
Lewis Joseph "Dan" D’Antoni II (born July 9, 1947) is an American former basketball player and current head coach for the Marshall Thundering Herd men's basketball team. He was previously an assistant coach under his younger brother, Mike D'Antoni, with the NBA's Phoenix Suns, New York Knicks, and Los Angeles Lakers. Playing career Born in Mullens, West Virginia, D'Antoni played college basketball at Marshall University from 1966–1970. He was the Thundering Herd's starting point guard from 1968–70. He led the Herd with a 17.5 scoring average in 1968–69. In 1990, he was inducted into the Marshall University Athletics Hall of Fame. Point Guard
The point guard (PG), also called the one or the point, is one of the five Basketball positions, positions in a regulation basketball game. A point guard has perhaps the most specialized role of any position. Point guards are expected to run the team's offense by controlling the ball and making sure that it gets to the right player at the right time. Miami Hurricanes Men's Basketball
The Miami Hurricanes men's basketball team is the college basketball team of the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida. The team competes in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). The University of Miami men's basketball team was formed in 1926, but the program was later dropped by the university in 1971. In 1985, fourteen years later, the Hurricanes resumed play as an independent and joined the Big East Conference in 1991, winning the Big East regular season title in 2000.
