2014–15 Liga Leumit
The 2014–15 Liga Leumit was the 16th season as second tier since its re-alignment in 1999 and the 73rd season of second-tier football in Israel. A total of sixteen teams are contesting in the league, including eleven sides from the 2013–14 season, the three promoted teams from 2013–14 Liga Alef and the two relegated teams from 2013–14 Israeli Premier League. Changes from 2013–14 season Team changes Maccabi Netanya and Hapoel Petah Tikva, were promoted to the 2014–15 Israeli Premier League. Hapoel Nir Ramat HaSharon and Bnei Yehuda Tel Aviv were directly relegated to the 2014–15 Liga Leumit after finishing the 2013–14 Israeli Premier League season in the bottom two places. Hapoel Ashkelon, and Maccabi Umm al-Fahm were directly relegated to Liga Alef after finishing in the previous season in last two league places. Liga Leumit
Liga Leumit ( he, ליגה לאומית, lit. ''National League'') is the second division of the Israeli Football League, and below its Premier League. Structure There are 16 clubs in the league. At the end of each season, the two lowest-placed teams are relegated to Liga Alef while the two highest-placed teams from Liga Alef are promoted in their place. The two highest-placed Liga Leumit teams are promoted to the Israeli Premier League while the bottom two teams from Israeli Premier League are relegated in their place. The participating clubs were first play a conventional round-robin schedule for a total of 30 matches, with all points accumulated by the clubs are halved. The 2014–15 Israeli Premier League is the sixteenth season since its introduction in 1999 and the 73nd season of top-tier football in Israel. It began in the end of August 2014 and ended in May 2015. Hapoel Nir Ramat HaSharon Football Club ( he, מועדון כדורגל הפועל ניר רמת השרון) is an Israeli football club based in Ramat HaSharon. They are currently members of Liga Leumit and play their home matches at the Grundman Stadium. History The club was founded in 1957 as Hapoel Ramat HaSharon, the club was promoted to Liga Artzit (The second division back then) in 1984. In the 1984–85 season they narrowly missed out on promotion to Liga Leumit (then the top division), after losing 1–0 to Hapoel Jerusalem on the final day of the season; had they won, they would have been promoted in Jerusalem's place. The following season they were relegated to Liga Alef, and two seasons later to Liga Bet. In 1996 the club returned to Liga Alef and in summer 1997 merged with Maccabi Nir Ramat HaSharon, a club which was named after Nir Itzhaki, by his brother and the club's chairmen, Meir Itzhaki, after Maccabi was refused funding by the local council.
