2014–15 FC Basel Season
The 2014–15 FC Basel season was the 122nd season in club history and the club's 20th consecutive season in the top flight of Swiss football. Basel were the reigning Swiss Super League champions. They prepared their season with various warm-up matches against teams from Switzerland, Austria and Czech Republic. Their 2014–15 Swiss Super League season began on 19 July with an away game against Aarau. Basel qualified for the 2014–15 UEFA Champions League, starting in the group stage. They were drawn in Group B against Real Madrid, Liverpool and Ludogorets Razgrad and started on 16 July with an away tie against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. Fussball Club Basel 1893, widely known as FC Basel, FCB, or just Basel, is a Swiss football club based in Basel, in the Canton of Basel-Stadt. Formed in 1893, the club has been Swiss national champions 20 times, Swiss Cup winners 13 times, and Swiss League Cup winners once. Thomas Häberli
Thomas Häberli (born 11 April 1974) is a Swiss professional footballer manager and former player who played as a striker. He is currently the manager of the Estonia national team. Club history Born in Lucerne, Switzerland, Häberli began his career with the semi-professional club FC Eschenbach, based in Eschenbach, Lucerne just outside his hometown of Lucerne in Central Switzerland. In 1994, he moved to FC Le Mont, based in Le Mont-sur-Lausanne, in the French-speaking region of Switzerland. Massimo Ceccaroni
Massimo Ceccaroni (born 15 August 1968) is a retired Swiss-Italian footballer who played as a defender or midfielder. He played for FC Basel for very nearly his entire career. He was later trainer at amateur club BSC Old Boys and then trainer of the Basel U-21 team. Between 2012 and 2020 he was technical manager of the youth department. Massimo Colomba
Massimo Colomba (born 24 August 1977, in Villars-sur-Glâne) is a Swiss footballer who played as goalkeeper. He is currently the goalkeeper coach of both FC Sion. Career As a child Colomba played in the youth teams of his local side FC Villars-sur-Glâne. In 1995, he moved to Fribourg and played one year for FC Richemond and one for FC Beauregard. Colomba began his professional career with Neuchatel Xamax in 1997. He was their reserve goalkeeper for three years and first-choice keeper during the 2000–01 and 2001–02 seasons. Bernhard Heusler (born 27 December 1963) is a Swiss businessman, lawyer and former president of the football club FC Basel. Life Heusler studied law at the University of Basel. He was a research assistant to René Rhinow and was awarded his doctorate in law in Basel. In 1994, he completed a post-graduate course at the University of California, Davis and worked for the New York law firm ''Davis Polk & Wardwell''. Reto Baumgartner (born 28 April 1967) is a retired Swiss professional footballer who played in the late 1980s and early 1990s as defender. Since FC Basel's AGM in 2008, Baumgartner is a member of the club board of directors and since 16 November 2020, he is president of the club. He is businessman and member of the Basel-Stadt trade association. Football career Baumgartner played his youth football with Wettingen. Adrian Knup
Adrian Knup (born 2 July 1968) is a Swiss former professional football striker who played in the 1980s and 1990s. He was capped 49 times and scored 26 goals for the Switzerland national team between 1989 and 1996, including three games at the 1994 FIFA World Cup. From 2009 to 2017 he worked as the head coach of the youth sector at FC Basel and was also the vice president of the club between 2012 and 2017.
