2014–15 Cypriot Second Division
The 2014–15 Cypriot Second Division was the 60th season of the Cypriot second-level football league and it began on 20 September 2014. There was a new league system in place with the eight teams of the B1 Division, merging with the eight teams of the B2 Division, creating a unified Second Division. Before the season, Alki Larnaca was dissolved due to financial problems and AEK Kouklia and AEP Paphos merged to create Pafos FC, reducing the total of clubs competing from 16 to 14. Cypriot Second Division
The Cypriot Second Division ( el, Πρωτάθλημα Β΄ Κατηγορίας) is the second highest football division of the Cypriot football league system. Administrated by the Cyprus Football Association, it is contested by 16 teams, with the top two teams being promoted to the Cypriot First Division and the last four teams being relegated to the Cypriot Third Division. History The Cypriot Second Division started unofficially the 1934–35 football season as the second level of the Cypriot football (Cyprus Football Association founded in 1934). The competition consisted of teams that didn't participate in Cypriot First Division and the reserve teams of the Cypriot First Division clubs. In the reserve teams were allowed to participate only players that had no more than three caps with their team in First Division. Elpida Xylofagou
Elpida Xylofagou is a Cypriot football club based in the village of Xylofagou in Larnaca district. The club, which was established in 1959, currently competes in the Cypriot Second Division, after a successful campaign in the Cypriot Third Division, from which it gains the promotion. Their colors are white and blue. In recent years, the team has also regularly participated in the Cypriot Cup. Stadium The team uses the Michalonikion Stadion, as a home stadium. The stadium has a capacity of 2,000 fans. Olympiakos Nicosia ( el, Ολυμπιακός Λευκωσίας, ''Olympiakos Lefkosias'') is a football club based in Nicosia, Cyprus and competes in the Cypriot First Division. The club was founded in 1931, and is a founding member of the Cyprus Football Association. The club colors are black and green. Olympiakos' home ground is the Makario Stadium, which has a 16,000-seat capacity. The team's main nickname is "mavroprasini" (the green-blacks), and the club's other nickname is Taktakalas, derived from the area of Nicosia where the club hails from. Olympiakos Nicosia has won three Cypriot First Division Championships, one Cypriot Cup and one Cyprus Super Cup. Karmiotissa Polemidion FC ( el, Καρμιώτισσα Πολεμιδιών, ''Karmiotissa Polemidion'') is a Cypriot football club based in Pano Polemidia, Limassol. As of 2016 the team competed in the First Division for one season, where it played for the first time in its history, but was relegated. The club colors are red and white. Anagennisi Deryneia ( el, Αναγέννηση Δερύνειας) is Cypriot football team based in Deryneia, Famagusta. The club was founded in 1920 and they joined the Cyprus Football Association in 1972. The team played in the Cypriot First division in 2011 but was relegated at the end of the season. It has participated in the first and second divisions and Cypriot Third Division in the past.
