2014–15 Copa Chile
The 2014–15 Copa Chile, (officially known as ''Copa Chile MTS 2014/15'' because of its sponsorship), was the 35th edition of the Copa Chile, the country's national cup tournament. The competition started on May 16, 2014 with the First Round and concludes on 2015 with the Final. The winner qualifies for the 2015 Copa Sudamericana and the 2015 Supercopa de Chile. Schedule Teams A total 32 clubs were accepted for the competition. For this edition the teams are from the Primera División and Primera B, only. First round On this round every team plays home and away against every other team in its group. The best 2 teams from each group advance to the next round. Copa Chile
The Copa Chile (''Chile Cup'') is an annual cup competition for Chilean football teams. Due to time constraints and club pressure, the trophy was cancelled in 2000, but returned in 2008. Its precursor was the Campeonato de Apertura (''Opening Championship''), played from 1933 to 1950. The cup is now open to every member club of the Chilean football league system, from professional teams; ( Primera División, Primera B & Segunda División), down to teams from the ANFA: Tercera División. Since the season 2009, the winners obtained a direct Copa Sudamericana spot for the next season, however this was change starting from the 2015 edition; since then the winners obtains a direct Copa Libertadores spot for the next season. Club de Deportes Cobreloa S.A.D.P. (), commonly referred to as Cobreloa, is a Chilean football professional club based in Calama, Región de Antofagasta, Chile. That competes in the Primera B. The club's home ground is the Estadio Zorros del Desierto. Founded on 7 January 1977, by the initiative of various local groups and the Chilean state-owned enterprise, CODELCO. Santiago Wanderers
Club de Deportes Santiago Wanderers is a football club based in Valparaíso, a founding member of the Chilean Football Federation. Their home ground, Estadio Elías Figueroa Brander, is in the north-west of the city. Wanderers have played their games there since 1931 after moving from Barrio Puerto. Founded on 15 August 1892, it's the country's oldest club and the oldest football team in Latin America as well. There are four clubs older than Wanderers in Peru and Argentina, but none of those started out as football clubs and all of their football branches started after 1892. Deportes Concepción is a Chilean football club based in the city of Concepción, Biobio Region. They currently play at the third tier of the Chilean League system, the Segunda División. The club was founded in 1966, by the organizations of several amateur clubs such as Galvarino, Liverpool, Juvenil Unido, Santa Fe and Club Lord Cochrane. Huachipato
Club Deportivo Huachipato is a Chilean football club based in Talcahuano that is a current member of the Chilean Primera División. The club was founded 7 June 1947 and plays its home games at the Estadio CAP, which has a capacity of 10,500 people (all-seated). History In 1947, CD Huachipato was officially notarized, and the first official recorded game was played. The original fans were the local company employees of the steel industry in Huachipato. It took a few years for the club to achieve its first successes, obtaining regional championships in 1956 and 1964. Deportes Temuco
Deportes Temuco is a Chilean football club based in Temuco, Araucanía Region. It currently plays in the Chilean Primera División B, holding home games at the new '' Estadio Municipal Germán Becker''. The club was founded on February 22, 1960, as ''Deportes Temuco'' and again on March 20, 1965, after a merger with Green Cross. Until 1984, the club was known as ''Green Cross – Temuco'', and, in 2007, changed its name to ''Deportivo Temuco'', only on that season. In 2013, the club merged with Unión Temuco, but the name of Deportes Temuco was kept, along with the logo and traditional white and green colors, making it seem as Deportes Temuco absorbing Unión rather than a fusion. Lota Schwager
Lota Schwager is a Chilean professional team based in Coronel that currently play in Tercera A (fourth-tier). History Following the merger between Federico Schwager and Minas Lota (teams that competed in Campeonato Regional de Concepción representing Lota and Schwager companies), the club was established on 10 May 1966 under the name of ''"Lota Schwager"'', making reference to both companies latest mentioned. Club Social de Deportes Rangers is a Chilean football club based in the city of Talca. The club was founded November 2, 1902 and plays in the second level of the Chilean football system. Their home games are played at the Fiscal stadium, which has a capacity of 16,000 seats. History The name Rangers was chosen by a Scotsman, Juan Greenstret, who was one of the founding fathers of the Club on behalf of Mrs. Amalia Neale de Silva, the first benefactress of the club. The origin of the chosen team colours, red and black, are unknown, though one of the possibilities was that some of the first players were also members of the Second Company of Firemen of Talca, whose shield was red and black. Unión La Calera
Unión La Calera is a Chilean football club based in La Calera and competes the Primera División de Chile. It was founded as Club de Deportes La Calera on 26 January 1954, after the merger of three teams from the city: ''Condor'', ''Calera Comercio'' and ''Tifón''. The following year, Deportes La Calera joined ''Club de Deportes Melón'' (originated by the merger between Cemento Melón and Minas Navío) to form Unión La Calera. After spending six seasons in second level, the club obtained its first promotion to Primera División de Chile in 1961, category where they remained until 1974. Everton De Viña Del Mar
Everton de Viña del Mar is a Chilean football club based in the city of Viña del Mar. The club was founded 24 June 1909 after a group of Anglo-Chilean teenagers formed a football club and named it after the English team Everton who had recently completed a pioneering tour of South America. The club's nickname is "Ruleteros" or the roulette players in English, after Viña del Mar's status as a gambling resort.
