2014–15 Colorado Avalanche Season
The 2014–15 Colorado Avalanche season was the Colorado Avalanche seasons, 20th operational season and 19th playing season since the franchise relocated from Quebec Nordiques, Quebec prior to the start of the 1995–96 NHL season. As well as the franchise's 36th season in the National Hockey League and 43rd season overall. The Avalanche missed the playoffs despite qualifying the previous season. Western Conference (NHL)
The Western Conference (french: Conférence de l'Ouest) is one of two conferences in the National Hockey League (NHL) used to divide teams. Its counterpart is the Eastern Conference. History Originally named the Clarence Campbell Conference (or Campbell Conference for short), it was created in 1974 when the NHL realigned its teams into two conferences and four divisions. Because the new conferences and divisions had little to do with North American geography, geographical references were removed. The conferences and divisions were re-aligned in 1981 to better reflect the geographical locations of the teams, but the existing names were retained with the Campbell Conference becoming the conference for the NHL's westernmost teams. The names of conferences and divisions were changed in 1993 to reflect their geographic locations. Mikko Koivu
Mikko-Sakari Koivu (born 12 March 1983) is a Finnish former professional ice hockey player. Koivu was drafted sixth overall in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft by the Minnesota Wild. After four seasons with HC TPS, TPS in the Liiga, SM-liiga, Koivu joined the Wild in 2005. He spent fifteen seasons in Minnesota, including eleven as Captain (ice hockey), captain, accumulating several franchise records, including games played, assists and points scored. Koivu retired in 2021, after a short stint with the Columbus Blue Jackets. Internationally, Koivu served as captain of the gold medal-winning Finland men's national ice hockey team, Finnish national team at the 2011 IIHF World Championship, 2011 World Championship. The 2016 NHL Entry Draft was the 54th NHL Entry Draft. The draft was held on June 24–25, 2016 at the First Niagara Center in Buffalo, New York. The first three selections were Auston Matthews going to the Toronto Maple Leafs, Patrik Laine going to the Winnipeg Jets, and Pierre-Luc Dubois going to the Columbus Blue Jackets. 2014–15 San Jose Sharks Season
The 2014–15 San Jose Sharks season was the 24th season in the National Hockey League. The Sharks did not qualify for the 2015 Stanley Cup playoffs, thus ending their ten-season playoff streak. Off-season On May 15, 2014, following a first round playoff loss to the Los Angeles Kings, General Manager Doug Wilson made known his intentions to build a "younger, more aggressive team", announcing that the team would retain Head Coach Todd McLellan, but will move 33-year-old winger Martin Havlat, who still had one year on remaining his contract, and would not re-sign 37-year-old impending unrestricted free agent defenceman Dan Boyle. Daniel Brière
Daniel Jean-Claude Brière (born October 6, 1977) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player and executive. He was drafted in the first round of the 1996 NHL Entry Draft by the Phoenix Coyotes, and also played for the Buffalo Sabres, Philadelphia Flyers, Montreal Canadiens and Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League (NHL). He is best known as one of the top Stanley Cup Playoffs performers in NHL history, with 116 points in 124 career playoff games. Internationally, Brière won four gold medals in as many appearances with Team Canada at the 1994 World U18 Championships, 1997 World Junior Championships, and the 2003 and 2004 World Championships. The 2015 National Hockey League All-Star Game was an exhibition ice hockey game played on January 25, 2015. The game was held in Columbus, Ohio, for the first time, at Nationwide Arena, home of the Columbus Blue Jackets. The team captains were chosen by NHL Hockey Operations: Nick Foligno of the All-Star Game-hosting Blue Jackets served as captain for the home team, and Jonathan Toews of the Chicago Blackhawks served for the away team. Team Toews won the game 17–12, as the teams and players broke a variety of All-Star Game scoring records. Columbus was originally scheduled to host the All-Star Game on January 27, 2013. Broadmoor World Arena
The Broadmoor World Arena was a skating rink and hockey arena located at The Broadmoor Resort & Spa in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Originally an outdoor equestrian center and riding academy, the building was enclosed and converted into an ice arena which opened in January 1938.
