2014–15 Carolina Hurricanes Season
The 2014–15 Carolina Hurricanes season was the 43rd season for the major league ice hockey team; its 36th season in the National Hockey League since the NHL franchise was granted on June 22, 1979, and 17th season since the franchise relocated from Hartford to start the 1997–98 NHL season. The Hurricanes failed to make the playoffs for the sixth consecutive year. Off-season On May 5, 2014, the Hurricanes announced that head coach Kirk Muller, as well as assistant coaches John MacLean and Dave Lewis, were fired. Eastern Conference (NHL)
The Eastern Conference (french: Conférence de l'Est) is one of two conferences in the National Hockey League (NHL) used to divide teams. Its counterpart is the Western Conference. History Originally named the Prince of Wales Conference, it was created in 1974 when the NHL realigned its teams into two conferences and four divisions. Because the new conferences and divisions had little to do with North American geography, geographical references were removed. The Prince of Wales Trophy dates back to 1925, when it was donated to the League by the Prince of Wales, who later became King Edward VIII and then the Duke of Windsor. The Carolina Hurricanes are a professional ice hockey team based in Raleigh, North Carolina. The team is a member of the Metropolitan Division in the Eastern Conference of the NHL. This list documents the records and playoff results for all 22 seasons the Carolina Hurricanes have completed in the NHL since their relocation from Hartford, Connecticut in 1997. The 2014–15 Winnipeg Jets season was the 16th season for the National Hockey League franchise that was established on June 25, 1997, and the fourth in Winnipeg since the franchise relocated from Atlanta following the conclusion of the 2010–11 season. Regular season On April 9, 2015, the Jets qualified for the 2015 Stanley Cup playoffs, marking the return of playoff hockey to Winnipeg for the first time since the 1996 Stanley Cup playoffs. The Jets would set a franchise record, with 99 points, finishing with a 43-26-13 record. Playoffs The Winnipeg Jets entered the playoffs as the Western Conference's second wild card. The 2014–15 Buffalo Sabres season was the Buffalo Sabres seasons, 45th season for the National Hockey League franchise that was established on May 22, 1970. 2014–15 New York Islanders Season
The 2014–15 New York Islanders season was the 43rd season in the franchise's history. This was the team's final full season of play at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. The Islanders competed in the Metropolitan Division of the Eastern Conference (NHL) for the second season. Jaroslav Halak entered the season as the team's new starting goaltender, leading their previous starting goaltender, veteran Evgeni Nabokov, to sign with the Tampa Bay Lightning as a free agent. Chad Johnson was brought in to be Halak's backup, however he was later traded for Michal Neuvirth who took over the role. Anton Valerievich Khudobin (russian: Антон Валерьевич Худобин; born 7 May 1986) is a Kazakhstani-born Russian professional ice hockey goaltender for the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League (AHL) while under contract with the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League (NHL). Drew MacIntyre
Drew MacIntyre (born June 24, 1983) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey goaltender. , he is a developmental goaltending coach and scout for the Manitoba Moose in the American Hockey League. Playing career MacIntyre played his entire junior hockey career in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with the Sherbrooke Beavers. Playing four seasons with Sherbrooke, from 1999–2000 to 2002–03, he recorded seven shutouts in 188 regular season games. Following his second junior hockey season, MacIntyre was chosen in round four of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft by the Detroit Red Wings, 121st overall. Alexander Nedeljkovic ( ', born January 7, 1996) is an American professional ice hockey goaltender for the Detroit Red Wings of the National Hockey League (NHL). Dave Lewis (ice Hockey)
David Rodney Lewis (born July 3, 1953) is a Canadian former National Hockey League (NHL) defenceman and coach. He was most recently an assistant coach of the Carolina Hurricanes of the NHL. He has both Canadian and U.S. citizenship. Playing career Lewis began his playing career with the Saskatoon Blades of the Western Canada Hockey League. He was drafted by the New York Islanders in the 1973 NHL Entry Draft, third round, thirty-third overall. John MacLean (ice Hockey)
John Harold MacLean (born November 20, 1964) is a Canadian ice hockey assistant coach for the New York Islanders and former player. He spent the majority of his playing career as a member of the New Jersey Devils, and also spent time with the San Jose Sharks, New York Rangers and Dallas Stars. Playing career As a youth, MacLean played in the 1977 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with a minor ice hockey team from Oshawa. MacLean was selected 6th overall in the 1983 NHL Entry Draft. He was selected as the 1st choice of the New Jersey Devils. Kirk Muller
Kirk Christopher Muller (born February 8, 1966) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey winger who played in the National Hockey League for 19 seasons from 1984–85 until 2002–03. He was also the head coach of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes from 2011 to 2014. He was an associate coach with the Montreal Canadiens from 2016 to 2021, where he previously served as assistant coach from 2006 to 2011. Playing career Muller started his junior career with the Kingston Canadians of the Ontario Hockey League, but his most successful junior seasons were with the Guelph Platers. There was a dispute in 1984 between the Platers and the Canadian Olympic Team, who wanted Muller to play with them at the 1984 Winter Olympics.
