2014–15 Big East Conference Men's Basketball Season
The 2014–15 Big East Conference men's basketball season began with practices in October 2014, followed by the start of the followed by the start of the 2014–15 NCAA Division I men's basketball season in November. This is the 36th year in the conference's history, but the second as a non-football conference, which officially formed on July 1, 2013. While the first game involving two conference members took place during the Battle 4 Atlantis, it did not count in the Big East standings; conference play officially began on New Year's Eve 2014. The season concluded in March with the 2015 Big East tournament at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Darrun Hilliard II (born April 13, 1993) is an American professional basketball player for Maccabi Tel Aviv of the Israeli Basketball Premier League and the EuroLeague. Hilliard attended Liberty High School in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, where he was a two-time ''Associated Press'' first-team selection. As a high school senior, he averaged 19.7 points per game. Sir'Dominic Denzel Pointer (born May 6, 1992) is an American professional basketball player for APOEL of the Cyprus Basketball Division A. He played college basketball at St. John's. Josh Hart (born March 6, 1995) is an American professional basketball player for the Portland Trail Blazers in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Jerold Taylor "Jay" Wright Jr. (born December 24, 1961) is an American former college basketball coach. He served as the head coach of Villanova University from 2001 until 2022. Wright led the Villanova to six Big East Conference championships and 16 NCAA Tournament appearances in his 21 seasons as head coach. Under Wright, Villanova reached four Final Fours (2009, 2016, 2018, 2022) and won two National championships in 2016 and 2018. Big East Conference Men's Basketball Player Of The Year
The Big East Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Year award is given to the men's basketball player in the Big East Conference voted as the top performer by the conference coaches. It was first awarded at the end of the league's inaugural season of 1979–80. The head coaches of the league's teams (currently 11) submit their votes following the end of the regular season and before the conference's tournament in early March.
