2014–15 Azerbaijan First Division
The 2014–15 Azerbaijan First Division is the second-level of football in Azerbaijan. Araz were the defending champions. The season started on 6 September 2014 and there were sixteen teams participating in the league. Teams Araz were promoted to Azerbaijan Premier League, while Ravan Baku relegated to Azerbaijan First Division. Azerbaijan First Division
The Azerbaijan First Division ( az, AzÉ™rbaycan Birinci Divizionu) is the second highest professional division in Azerbaijani professional football (soccer), football. The division is run by Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan, AFFA. No teams are promoted to Azerbaijan Premier League, Premier Division. History Due to the dissolution of the Soviet Union, all Azerbaijan clubs of the former Soviet Top League, Soviet Premier Division and Soviet First League, Soviet First Division conformed a single Azerbaijan Premier League, which meant that the new second tier of Azerbaijan football would remain regionalized. For the first two seasons three regional groups conformed the second tier, until in 1994 the single table in use today began to be used. Energetik FK is an Azerbaijani football club based in Mingachevir. One of the oldest and popular clubs in Azerbaijan. For a moment it participates at Azerbaijan First Division. History The club was established in 1966 and took part in Soviet Second League and Azerbaijan Premier League under the next names like ''Textilshchik'' (1966–70), ''Avtomobilist'' (1980–87), ''Kur'' (1990–93), ''Kur-Nur'' (1993–98). Qazax (; ) is a city in and the capital of the Gazakh District of Azerbaijan. It has a population of 20,900. Mingachevir
Mingachevir ( az, Mingəçevir ) is the fourth-largest city in Azerbaijan with a population of about 106,000. It's often called the "city of lights" because of its hydroelectric power station on the Kur River, which divides the city down the middle. The current city was founded in 1948, partly by German prisoners of war captured during World War II. Mingechevir is also home to Mingachevir Polytechnic Institute. Agsu ( az, AÄŸsu) is a city in and capital of the Agsu District of Azerbaijan.
