2014 Tour Of Alberta
The 2014 Tour of Alberta was the second edition of the Tour of Alberta stage race, a 2.1 race included on the UCI America Tour. As such, the race was only open to teams on the UCI Pro Tour, UCI Professional Continental and UCI Continental circuits. The race took place between September 2–7, 2014, as a six-day, six-stage race, traversing the province of Alberta. The race commenced in Calgary and finished in Edmonton. 2013–14 UCI America Tour
The 2013–14 UCI America Tour was the tenth season for the UCI America Tour. The season began on 6 October 2013 with the Tobago Cycling Classic and ended on 25 December 2014 with the Vuelta a Costa Rica. The points leader, based on the cumulative results of previous races, wears the UCI America Tour cycling jersey. Janier Acevedo from Colombia is the defending champion of the 2012–13 UCI America Tour. Throughout the season, points are awarded to the top finishers of stages within stage races and the final general classification standings of each of the stages races and one-day events. The quality and complexity of a race also determines how many points are awarded to the top finishers, the higher the UCI rating of a race, the more points are awarded. Theo Bos
Theo Bos (born 22 August 1983) is a Dutch former professional road and track cyclist. An Olympic silver medalist and five-time world champion, he is the brother of Olympic medalist in speed skating Jan Bos. On 29 November 2021, he announced his retirement of the professional cycling sport and took up the job of national track coach of the Chinese national track team. Early life Bos was born in Hierden, Netherlands. He has an older brother Jan Bos, who is a professional speed skater. He went to high school in Harderwijk, where he got a havo diploma. Strathcona County is a specialized municipality in the Edmonton Metropolitan Region within Alberta, Canada between Edmonton and Elk Island National Park. It forms part of Census Division No. 11. Wetaskiwin ( ) is a city in the province of Alberta, Canada. The city is located south of the provincial capital of Edmonton. Red Deer is a city in Alberta, Canada, located midway on the Calgary–Edmonton Corridor. Red Deer serves central Alberta, and key industries include health care, retail trade, construction, oil and gas, hospitality, manufacturing and education. Innisfail, Alberta
Innisfail ( ) is a town in central Alberta, Canada. It is located in the Calgary-Edmonton Corridor, south of Red Deer at the junction of Highway 2 and Highway 54. History The town's name comes from an Irish-language epithet for Ireland, ''Inis Fáil'', "Isle of Destiny". Before this name was adopted, the town was often referred to as "Poplar Grove". Sandy Fraser, Napoleon Remillard, Arthur Content and Bill Kemp settled in the area from 1884 to 1887. These were Innisfail's first settlers. Dr. Henry George was an important physician and coroner for Calgary and Central Alberta. He settled in Innisfail and built a house he called "Lindum Lodge" (this is where the Dr. George/Kemp house is today).
