2014 Suruga Bank Championship
The 2014 Suruga Bank Championship ( ja, スルガ銀行チャンピオンシップ2014; es, Copa Suruga Bank 2014) was the seventh edition of the Suruga Bank Championship, the club football match co-organized by the Japan Football Association, the football governing body of Japan, CONMEBOL, the football governing body of South America, and J. League, the professional football league of Japan, between the winners of the previous season's J. League Cup and Copa Sudamericana. The match was contested between Japanese team Kashiwa Reysol, the 2013 J. League Cup champion, and Argentine team Lanús, the 2013 Copa Sudamericana champion. It was hosted by Kashiwa Reysol at the Hitachi Kashiwa Soccer Stadium in Kashiwa on August 6, 2014. For the fifth consecutive year, the match was won by the Japanese host team, as Kashiwa Reysol won 2–1 to earn their first Suruga Bank Championship. Kashiwa Reysol
is a Japanese professional football club based in Kashiwa, Chiba Prefecture, part of the Greater Tokyo Area. The club plays in the J1 League, which is the top tier of football in the country. 2013 Copa Sudamericana
The 2013 Copa Sudamericana (officially the 2013 Copa Total Sudamericana for sponsorship reasons) was the 12th edition of the Copa Sudamericana, South America's secondary international club football tournament organized by CONMEBOL. The winner qualified for the 2014 Copa Libertadores, the 2014 Recopa Sudamericana, and the 2014 Suruga Bank Championship. São Paulo were the defending champions, but lost to Ponte Preta in the semifinals. Lanús became the fifth Argentine club to win the Copa Sudamericana, beating Brazilian club Ponte Preta in the finals to win their first title. Hidekazu Otani
is a Japanese football manager and former professional player who played as a defensive midfielder. He made over 600 career appearances for Kashiwa Reysol and stayed with them for his entire career. He is currently first-team coach for J1 League club Kashiwa Reysol. Playing career Otani was born in Nagareyama on 6 November 1984. He joined J1 League club Kashiwa Reysol from youth team in 2003. Daisuke Suzuki (footballer)
is a Japanese footballer who plays as a central defender. He represented his country at the 2012 Summer Olympics. Club career Suzuki joined Albirex Niigata as an apprentice professional in 2007. is a Japanese football player who plays for Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo. Playing career Although considered short for a goalkeeper, standing at 178 cm, he makes up for his lack of height with superb agility and reflexes.
