2014 Superclásico De Las Américas
The 2014 Superclásico de las Américas – Copa Doctor Nicolás Leoz was the 3rd edition of the Superclásico de las Américas. The match was played at Beijing National Stadium in Beijing, China. This was the first time the competition had taken place on foreign soil. It was also the time players outside the two countries' domestic competitions were allowed to participate as opposed to the original formant of only South America-based players being eligible to compete. Brazil won 2–0 with both goals scored by Diego Tardelli, while Argentina's Lionel Messi had a penalty saved by goalkeeper Jefferson. The SuperClasico, formerly known as the Honda SuperClasico for sponsorship reasons, and also known as the L.A. Derby or ''El Clásico Angelino'', was a sports rivalry between LA Galaxy and Chivas USA. The rivalry ended in 2014 when Chivas ceased operations. The word "SuperClasico" is an allusion to the Mexican Súper Clásico between Club América and the former Chivas USA's parent club Chivas Guadalajara. David Luiz Moreira Marinho (born 22 April 1987) is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays for Flamengo. Primarily a centre back, he can also be deployed as a defensive midfielder.
