2014 Thai Division 2 League Southern Region is the 6th season of the League competition since its establishment in 2009. It is in the third tier of the Thai football league system. Regional League South Division
Regional League South Division is the 3rd Level League in Thailand. It was formed in 2009 along with other four other regional leagues, all playing at the same level. The winner of each regional league enter the Regional League Championships to determine the three teams that will receive promotion to the Thai Division 1 League League History Formed in 2009, initially 9 clubs applied to be part of the new setup; Krabi FC, Krabi, Nakhon Si Thammarat FC, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Narathiwat FC, Narathiwat, Pattani FC, Pattani, Phattalung FC, Phattalung, Phuket FC, Phuket, Satun FC, Satun, Yala FC, Yala and Tartauo. Come decision day, Tartauo either failed to apply on time, or were not accepted into the new setup. Narathiwat and Satun were the only two teams with previous experience in the Thai football league system. PT Satun Football Club ( Thai: สโมสรฟุตบอลพีที สตูล) is a Thai professional football club based in Satun Province, a city located near to the border of Malaysia. The club is currently playing in the Thai League 3 Southern region. History Satun football team was known as one of the most successful provincial team in the past. The team won Yamaha Thailand Cup consecutively in year 1991 and 1992, which was underestimated by football guru, media, and publics at that time. The championship came into reality just like a magic, and that was the story behind naming Satun Football Team as The Ultimate Exorcists. This catchword had been widespread by media and fans till it became a nickname of the team. Narathiwat ( th, นราธิวาส, ) is a town (thesaban mueang) in southern Thailand and capital of Narathiwat Province. The town is in the Mueang Narathiwat District and was established in 1936. As of 2008, the population was 40,521. It lies 1,141 km south of Bangkok. Geography Narathiwat is on the east coast of the Malay Peninsula, by the Gulf of Thailand. The Bang Nara River flows through the town. The immediate vicinity of the town is flat or gently rolling, but there are hills both to the west and south.
