2014 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour
The 2014 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour is the 30th season of the Whelen Modified Tour (WMT). It began with the UNOH Battle at the Beach at Daytona International Speedway on February 18, which did not count towards the championship. The first race for the championship was the Icebreaker 150 presented by Town Fair Tire at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park on April 6. It ended with the Sunoco World Series 150 at Thompson again on October 19. Ryan Preece entered the season as the defending Drivers' Champion. 2012 champion Doug Coby won the 2014 championship after 13 races, 22 points ahead of Preece. Preece won the last race, which meant he went from sixth to second in the championship. Whelen Modified Tour
The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour (NWMT) (previously the NASCAR Winston Modified Tour and NASCAR Featherlite Modified Series from 1985 until 2005) is a modified stock car racing series owned and operated by NASCAR in the Modified Division. The Modified Division is NASCAR's oldest division, and is the only open-wheeled division that NASCAR sanctions. NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour events are mainly held in the northeastern United States, but the 2007 and 2008 tours expanded to the Midwest with the addition of a race in Mansfield, Ohio. The tour races primarily on short oval paved tracks, but the NWMT also has made appearances at larger ovals and road courses. Chuck Hossfeld
Chuck Hossfeld (born January 4, 1977) is an American race car driver and team owner. He is a former racer in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, and NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour. Hossfeld began racing at the age of twelve in kart racing at Lancaster Speedway. Five years later, he began racing stock cars at local short tracks and moved to North Carolina, working for former modified drivers Brett Bodine and Randy LaJoie. After making several starts in the USAR Hooters ProCup Series for LaJoie, he auditioned for the Roush Racing Gong Show and was hired to replace reigning champion Greg Biffle in the #50 Ford F-150. Stafford Motor Speedway
Stafford Motor Speedway is a semi-banked 1/2 mile paved oval located in Stafford Springs, Connecticut. Stafford Speedway holds weekly racing every Friday night May through September. This track is known as the home of the SK Modifieds and drivers such as Ryan Preece and Ted Christopher. Thompson is a town in Windham County, Connecticut, United States. The town was named after Sir Robert Thompson, an English landholder. The population was 9,189 at the 2020 census. Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park (TSMP), formerly Thompson Speedway and Thompson International Speedway, is a motorsports park in Thompson, Connecticut, featuring a asphalt oval racetrack and a road racing course. Spencer Scott Davis (born November 29, 1998) is an American professional stock car racing driver who last competed part-time in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, driving the No. 11 Toyota Tundra for his own team Spencer Davis Motorsports. Racing career Early years Davis began to race in the go-kart ranks when he was six years old. From there, he progressed into late model cars and trucks. Andrew T. Seuss (born March 15, 1987) is an American professional stock car racing driver. He won two consecutive championships in 2014 and 2015 in the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour. Seuss has also competed in the NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, Whelen Modified Tour, ARCA Menards Series and ARCA Menards Series East. Justin Bonsignore
Justin Bonsignore (born February 3, 1988) is an American racing driver who competes in NASCAR's Whelen Modified Tour and various other local racing circuits. He currently drives for Kenneth Massa Motorsports. Early career and go-karts Bonsignore began his racing career with go-karts at the age of 8. His family has long owned and operated a Kart Racing Shop, and this early exposure to the racing circuit paved the way for a career in racing. Robert Santos III (born October 3, 1985) is an American professional racing driver from Franklin, Massachusetts. He graduated in 2004 from Tri-County Regional Vocational Technical High School. Santos, nicknamed "Bobby New England", is the grandson of Bobby Santos, a former modified racer. His sister, Erica Santos, is also a racecar driver.
