2014 Montreal Alouettes Season
The 2014 Montreal Alouettes season was the 48th season for the team in the Canadian Football League and their 60th overall. The Alouettes finished the season in 2nd place in the East Division with a 9–9 record. The Alouettes improved upon their 8–10 record from 2013 with their 9th win in their 17th game and qualified for the playoffs for the 19th straight season in that same game. The team defeated the BC Lions in the East Semi-Final, but lost the East Final to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. The Alouettes set a CFL record as they were the first team to fall six games below .500 with a 1–7 record and finish with a .500 record or better. Canadian Football League East Division
The East Division is one of the two regional divisions of the Canadian Football League, its counterpart being the West Division. Although the CFL was not founded until 1958, the East Division and its clubs are descended from earlier leagues. The four teams in the division are the Toronto Argonauts, Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Montreal Alouettes, and Ottawa Redblacks. Andrew Lue
Andrew Lue (born March 17, 1992) is a retired Canadian football defensive back. In the CFL's Amateur Scouting Bureau final rankings, he was ranked tenth best of the players eligible in the 2014 CFL Draft. He was then drafted tenth overall by the Montreal Alouettes and signed with the team in May 2014. He was then traded to the Saskatchewan Roughriders on October 12, 2016. On February 14, 2017 hew signed a contract with the Edmonton Eskimos. He then signed a contract with the Ottawa Redblacks on February 15, 2018. Early years Lue was born in Kingston, Jamaica and raised in Toronto, and Markham, Ontario. He played football and basketball at St. Brother André Catholic High School, where he competed as a wide receiver, defensive back and running back. Punter (football)
A punter (P) in gridiron football is a special teams player who receives the snapped ball directly from the line of scrimmage and then punts (kicks) the football to the opposing team so as to limit any field position advantage. This generally happens on a fourth down in American football and a third down in Canadian football. Punters may also occasionally take part in fake punts in those same situations, when they throw or run the football instead of punting. Skills and usage The purpose of the punt is to force the team that is receiving the kick to start as far as possible from the kicking team's end zone. Placekicker
Placekicker, or simply kicker (PK or K), is the player in gridiron football who is responsible for the kicking duties of field goals and extra points. In many cases, the placekicker also serves as the team's kickoff specialist or punter. Specialized role The kicker initially was not a specialized role. Prior to the 1934 standardization of the prolate spheroid shape of the ball, drop kicking was the prevalent method of kicking field goals and conversions, but even after its replacement by place kicking, until the 1960s the kicker almost always doubled at another position on the roster. The Manitoba Bisons are the athletic teams that represent the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The football team plays their games at Investors Group Field. The soccer team play their home games at the University of Manitoba Soccer Fields while the track and field teams use the University Stadium as their home track. The York Lions is the official name for the athletic varsity teams that represent York University in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The university's varsity teams compete in the Ontario University Athletics conference of U Sports and, where applicable, in the east division. James Tuck (Canadian Football)
James Tuck (born June 12, 1990) is a Canadian football fullback for the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He was drafted by the Alouettes in the fourth round of the 2014 CFL Draft. He played CIS football at York. Tuck also played junior football for the Newmarket Storm of the Ontario Varsity Football League. Early years Tuck played hockey at Cardinal Carter Catholic High School in Aurora, Ontario. Defensive Lineman
In gridiron football, a lineman is a player who specializes in play at the line of scrimmage. The linemen of the team currently in possession of the ball are the offensive line, while linemen on the opposing team are the defensive line.
