2014 LA Galaxy Season
The 2014 LA Galaxy season was the club's nineteenth season of existence, and their nineteenth consecutive season in Major League Soccer, the top tier of American soccer. The Galaxy won a league-leading fifth MLS Cup by defeating the New England Revolution in the final 2–1 in extra time. The club reached the quarterfinals of the 2013-14 CONCACAF Champions League before being knocked out by Tijuana, and were eliminated in the fifth round of the U.S. Open Cup by the Carolina Railhawks. All-star Landon Donovan retired at the end of the season, after winning his sixth MLS Cup and fourth with the Galaxy. He would come out of retirement and sign with the Galaxy during the 2016 season. LA Galaxy
LA Galaxy, also known as the Los Angeles Galaxy, are an American professional soccer club based in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. The Galaxy competes in Major League Soccer (MLS), as a member of the Western Conference. The club began play in 1996 as one of the league's 10 charter members. The Galaxy were founded in 1994 and are owned by Anschutz Entertainment Group (also owners of 50% of the Los Angeles Kings, as well as an interest in the Los Angeles Lakers). In their early years, the club played its home games at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. Since 2003, they have played at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California. MLS Cup 2014 was the 19th edition of the MLS Cup, the match that determined the champion of Major League Soccer's 2014 season. It is also the last MLS Cup to be held before the league's rebranding in 2015. The Western Conference Champions LA Galaxy played the Eastern Conference Champions New England Revolution. The soccer match was held at the Galaxy's home field of the StubHub Center in Carson, California, as the Galaxy were awarded home advantage by finishing the regular season with more points than the Revolution. The 2014 MLS SuperDraft was the fifteenth MLS SuperDraft, SuperDraft presented by Major League Soccer. The first two rounds of the four round draft took place on January 16, 2014, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at the Philadelphia Convention Center. Real Colorado Foxes were an American soccer team based in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, United States. Founded in 2008, the team played in the USL Premier Development League (PDL), the fourth tier of the American Soccer Pyramid, in the Heartland Division of the Central Conference. The team played its home games at Shea Stadium from 2009-2015. The team's colors were red, black and white. History The Foxes joined the PDL in 2009, and played their first ever game on May 9, 2009, against Kansas City Brass. New Mexico Lobos Men's Soccer
The New Mexico Lobos men's soccer team represented the University of New Mexico in all NCAA Division I men's soccer competitions from 1983 until 2018. The team became a soccer-only member of Conference USA in July 2013 after leaving the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (the school's primary conference, the Mountain West, only sponsors that sport for women). Kyle Venter
Kyle Venter (born March 13, 1991) is an American retired professional soccer player who last played as a defender for the Richmond Kickers in USL League One. Venter is currently an assistant coach for the Florida Gators women's soccer team. Career Early career Venter played college soccer at the University of New Mexico between 2009 and 2013. During his time at college Venter also played for USL PDL club Real Colorado Foxes during their 2012 season. Landon Timothy Donovan (born March 4, 1982) is an American former professional soccer player. Donovan is also the co-founder and vice-president of soccer operations for USL Championship side San Diego Loyal SC, and serves as strategic advisor for English side Lincoln City.
