2014 Kvalserien
The 2014 Kvalserien was the 40th and final Kvalserien, consisting of two Swedish Hockey League teams and four HockeyAllsvenskan teams. It began on 17 March 2014 and will end on 7 April 2014. The 2014 Kvalserien determined which two teams of the participating ones would play in the 2014–15 SHL season and which four teams would play in the 2014–15 HockeyAllsvenskan season. Örebro HK defended their SHL spot and Djurgårdens IF returned to the top-tier league after a two-year stint in HockeyAllsvenskan. AIK were relegated to HockeyAllsvenskan. Kvalserien
Kvalserien, also known as ''Kvalserien till SHL'', was the Swedish round-robin ice hockey tournament to qualify for play in the next season of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL, previously named Elitserien), Sweden's top-level ice hockey league for men. It was replaced by a playoff round in the 2014–15 season. Teams Kvalserien was formed after the regular seasons of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL, previously named Elitserien) and the second-tier league HockeyAllsvenskan had been played. The two worst ranked teams in the SHL and the best four teams in HockeyAllsvenskan formed the league together with the winner of a six-round round-robin tournament between the teams ranked 4–7 from HockeyAllsvenskan. Daniel Sondell
Daniel Sondell (born March 1, 1984) is a Swedish former professional ice hockey defenceman who most notably played in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL). Playing career A product of IF Björklöven, Sondell saw his first minutes in the Swedish second division HockeyAllsvenskan with the club's men's team during the 2003-04 campaign. In 2005, he joined Skellefteå AIK and helped the team win promotion to the top-flight Swedish Hockey League (SHL) his first year. After two years with the club, he joined Rögle BK in 2007 and again moved up from HockeyAllsvenskan to the SHL in 2008. He left Rögle following a two-year stint. Jared Aulin (born March 15, 1982) is a Canadian former professional hockey centre. He was a second round selection of the Colorado Avalanche in the 2000 National Hockey League (NHL) Entry Draft and played 17 NHL games for the Los Angeles Kings. Marcus Högström (born March 20, 1989) is a Swedish former professional ice hockey defenceman who played in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL). Playing career Högström played in the youth set-ups of Svegs IK, Skellefteå AIK and MODO Hockey. He then spent the 2009-10 campaign with Molot-Prikamie Perm in Russia's second-tier league. Marcus Sörensen (born 7 April 1992) is a Swedish professional ice hockey forward for HC Fribourg-Gottéron of the National League (NL). Playing career Sörensen began playing hockey in Tälje IK before he was acquired by Södertälje SK's youth organization, where he began playing junior hockey. Daniel Zaar (born 24 April 1994) is a Swedish professional ice hockey winger currently playing with Rögle BK in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL). Zaar was drafted in the sixth round, 152nd overall, in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft by the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Swedish Ice Hockey Association ( sv, Svenska Ishockeyförbundet (SIF)) in Swedish, is an association of Swedish ice hockey clubs. It was established in Stockholm on 17 November 1922 by representatives from seven clubs. Before then, organized ice hockey in Sweden had been administered by the Swedish Football Association. 2013–14 HockeyAllsvenskan Season
The 2013–14 HockeyAllsvenskan season began on 12 September 2013 and included 14 teams. IF Björklöven, Swedish champions in 1987, rejoined the league, following a three-year stint in Division 1 (now named Hockeyettan) after their near-bankruptcy in 2010. They replaced Tingsryds AIF, who were demoted to Division 1 following a third-place finish in the 2013 HockeyAllsvenskan qualifiers. Also new to the league were Timrå IK and Rögle BK, both of whom were demoted from Elitserien (now called the SHL), replacing Leksands IF and Örebro HK who were promoted up to the SHL in their stead.
