2014 Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship
The 2014 Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship was the 120th staging of the Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment in by the Kilkenny County Board in 1887. The championship began on 11 October 2014 and ended on 16 November 2014. Clara were the defending champions. Tullaroan were relegated from the championship. Ballyhale Shamrocks won the championship following a 1–20 to 1–13 defeat of Clara. Danesfort GAA
Danesfort is a County Kilkenny based Gaelic Athletic Association club that competes in the Kilkenny Senior Championship. The club's grounds are located about 4 miles south of Kilkenny city on the Waterford Road. The club was founded in 1922 and incorporates a broad area south of Kilkenny city, encompassing Danesfort itself as well as Burnchurch, Cuffesgrange and part of Kells. The club borders rival clubs Bennetsbridge to the east, Graigue-Ballycallan to the west, Carrickshock and Dunnamaggin to the south and city club James Stephens to the north. Richie Hogan
Richard Hogan (born 8 August 1988) is an Irish hurler who plays as a midfielder at senior level for the Kilkenny county team. Born in Waterford in 1988, Hogan is a native of Danesfort, County Kilkenny. Hogan first played competitive hurling during his schooling at St Kieran's College. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of fifteen when he first linked up with the Kilkenny minor team, before later joining the under-21 side. He joined the senior panel during the 2007 championship. Hogan soon became a regular member of the starting fifteen and has won seven All-Ireland medals, seven Leinster medals and four National Hurling League medals. He has been an All-Ireland runner-up on two occasions. As a member of the Leinster inter-provincial team, Hogan has won one Railway Cup medal. John Maher (born 1977) is an Irish hurler who played as a right corner-forward for the Kilkenny senior team. Richard "Richie" Power (born 4 December 1985) is an Irish hurler who played as a centre-forward at senior level for the Kilkenny county team. Born in Carrickshock, County Kilkenny, Power first played competitive hurling during his schooling at St Kieran's College. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of fifteen when he first linked up with the Kilkenny minor team, before later joining the under-21 side. He made his senior debut during the 2005 league. Power immediately became a regular member of the starting fifteen and has won eight All-Ireland medals, five Leinster medals and three National League medals. Dicksboro is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in Kilkenny City, Ireland. History Dicksboro GAA Club, founded in 1909. The club takes its name from Dicksboro townland, located next to Kilkenny Airport, the current ground is Palmerstown, to the west of the city. Dicksboro entered and won the junior championship of 1910. Dicksboro entered the senior championship in 1911. Dicksboro had no team from 1961 to 1969, until the club was reformed. Nowlan Park
UPMC Nowlan Park (; ) is the principal Gaelic Athletic Association stadium in Kilkenny, Ireland. Named after James Nowlan (the longest serving President of the GAA), the stadium hosts major hurling matches and is home to the Kilkenny hurling team. It opened in 1927 replacing St. James Park. O'Loughlin Gaels is a Gaelic Athletic Association club situated in the St. John’s parish of Kilkenny city, County Kilkenny, Ireland. History The club was founded in 1969, replacing the St. John’s Hurling Club that started back in 1887. O'Loughlin Gaels are one of the most successful Kilkenny clubs of the new millennium, winning county titles in 2001 and 2003. In 2003, they went on to claim their first Leinster senior title. Thomastown (), historically known as Grennan, is a town in County Kilkenny in the province of Leinster in the south-east of Ireland. Callan, County Kilkenny
Callan () is a town and civil parish in County Kilkenny in Ireland. Situated 16 km (10 mi) south of Kilkenny on the N76 road to Clonmel, it is near the border with County Tipperary. It is the second largest town in the county, and had a population of 2,475 at the 2016 census. Callan is the chief town of the barony of the same name. History and name Callan was founded by William the Marshal in 1207 and reputedly gets its name from the High King of Ireland, Niall Caille. It is reported that while at war with the Norsemen the High King arrived in Callan to find that its river was in flood. Conahy Shamrocks GAA
Conahy Shamrocks is a Gaelic Athletic Association club situated in the small parish of Conahy, in County Kilkenny, Ireland. The club was founded in 1886, and is therefore one of the oldest in the county. Conahy won the 2008 All-Ireland Junior Club Hurling Championship in Croke Park, defeating Moyle Rovers of Tipperary. Conahy club member, and then president of the GAA, Nickey Brennan presented the cup to his home club. The club won the All-Ireland Junior title again in 2020.
