2014 Italian GT Championship
The 2014 Italian GT Championship was the 23rd season of the Italian GT Championship, the grand tourer-style sports car racing founded by the Italian automobile club (Automobile Club d'Italia). The season started on 11 May at Misano and ended on 26 October at Monza after seven double-header meetings. The drivers' championship was won by Scuderia Baldini 27 Network drivers Lorenzo Casè and Raffaele Giammaria Raffaele Giammaria (born 1 September 1977 in Civitavecchia) is an Italian racing car driver. He was runner-up in the Formula Renault 2000 Italy series in 2000, then progressed through German and Italian Formula Three and Italian Formula 3000 to In ..., finishing just three points of their nearest rivals, Marco Mapelli and Thomas Schoeffler. Italian GT Championship
The Italian GT Championship (''Campionato Italiano Gran Turismo'') is an Italian sports car series founded in 2003 and organized by the Automobile Club d'Italia (ACI) and the Commissione Sportiva Automobilistica Italiana (CSAI). It replaced a previous supercar-based championship which ran from 1992 until 2002 when it was folded due to a lack of entrants. The series borrowed heavily from the international FIA GT Championship in its first few seasons, although additional entries from Ferrari Challenge, Porsche Supercup, and Maserati Trofeo competitors were allowed. Following the 2006 season, the top GT1 class was dropped from the championship, leaving competitors in the GT2, GT3, and GT Cup classes. Luigi Lucchini
Luigi Lucchini (21 January 1919 – 26 August 2013) was an Italian businessman and steel executive. The son of an iron craftsman, Lucchini was born in Casto, Brescia, Italy on 21 January 1919. He studied foreign languages at the Catholic University of Milan but dropped out of university due to financial difficulties; then he worked as a teacher for a brief period and finally he took over his father's workshop in Val Sabbia. After World War II he realized his first extensions of the family business, installing a small mill for the production of rebar. Between the 1970s and the 1980s, the company had its true season of expansion, with the acquisition of several production facilities in and outside Italy. Tomáš Enge
Tomáš Enge (; born 11 September 1976) is a Czech former professional racing driver who has competed in many classes of motorsport, including three races in Formula One. He has twice been sanctioned professionally for drug offences. Career Born in Liberec, Enge started his career at the age of 16, entering a Ford Fiesta he bought with his own money in the Czechoslovakian Ford Fiesta Cup. Enge participated in the final three races of the Formula One season, becoming the first, and to date only, driver from the Czech Republic to compete in Formula One. He made his debut at the Italian Grand Prix on 16 September, after being brought in by Prost as a replacement for Luciano Burti, who was recovering from his crash at the previous race in Belgium. Luigi Ferrara (born 12 May 1982) is an Italian racing driver from Bari. Career He began his career in feeder formula series such as the Formula Renault 2.0 Italia, Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0, Italian Formula Three and International Formula Master. He was champion in 2005 of the Italian Formula Three Championship with team Corbetta Competizioni. Ferrara switched to sports car in 2008, and won the Porsche Carrera Cup Italy. In 2009 he raced part-time at the Porsche Supercup. In 2010, the driver joined the Superstars Series with the CAAL team. Imola
Imola (; rgn, Jômla or ) is a city and ''comune'' in the Metropolitan City of Bologna, located on the river Santerno, in the Emilia-Romagna region of northern Italy. Autodromo Enzo E Dino Ferrari
The Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari, better known as Imola, is a motor racing circuit in the town of Imola, in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy, east of Bologna. It is one of the few major international circuits to run in an anti-clockwise direction. The circuit is named after Ferrari's late founder, Enzo Ferrari (1898–1988), and his son, Alfredo "Dino" Ferrari (1932–1956). Before Enzo's death, it was called Autodromo Dino Ferrari. The circuit has an FIA Grade One licence. Imola was the venue for the San Marino Grand Prix between 1981 and 2006. During this period, two Grands Prix were held in Italy every year, with the Italian Grand Prix taking place at Monza, so the Imola race was named after the nearby state. ACI Vallelunga Circuit
The Autodromo Vallelunga Piero Taruffi is a racing circuit situated north of Rome, Italy, near Vallelunga of Campagnano. Vallelunga was built as a sand oval in 1951. From 1963 the circuit held the Rome Grand Prix, and in 1967 a new loop was added when the track became the property of the Automobile Club d'Italia (ACI). Further refurbishment was undertaken in 1971. The track is named for the famous Italian racing driver Piero Taruffi. In August 2004 work started on a extension to the track, bringing the track up to its current length. Alessandro Balzan (born 17 October 1980 in Rovigo) is an Italian auto racing driver. Racing career In 1998 he stepped up from Kart racing, by competing in Italian Formula Campus and the Italian Renault Megane Cup Winter Series. A year later he drove in the Italian Renault Clio V6 Cup Winter Series, along with selected rounds of the Italian Renault Megane Cup. 2000 saw him finish the season fourth on points in the Renault Clio V6 Eurocup. Mirko Bortolotti (born 10 January 1990) is an Italian racing driver from Trento. He has won the Italian Formula 3 Championship in 2008, the FIA Formula 2 Championship in 2011, the Eurocup Megane Trophy in 2013 and the Blancpain GT Series Endurance and Overall Championship in 2017. He competed as a factory driver for Lamborghini between 2016 and 2019, before moving to Audi for 2020 and rejoining Lamborghini in 2021.
