Nickelodeon (commonly shortened as Nick) is a South African 24-hour television channel owned by Paramount Networks EMEAA. The channel was launched on July 1, 2008. North Africa receives the Arabic-language version of the channel Nickelodeon (Middle Eastern & North African TV channel), Nickelodeon MENA. Unlike other Nickelodeon feeds and much like the Nick (German TV channel), German and Nickelodeon (Dutch TV channel), Dutch feeds, the end credits on shows (except on interstitial shows) never appear. They were replaced by short credits including the show name, production year and production company and much like the Nickelodeon (Central and Eastern European TV channel), European feed, the promos and bumpers do not contain any text other than the Nickelodeon logo. ''Fireman Sam'' (Welsh: ') is a Welsh animated children's television series about a fireman named Sam, his fellow firefighters, and other residents in the fictional Welsh rural village of Pontypandy (a portmanteau of two real towns, Pontypridd and Tonypandy). The original idea for the show came from two ex-firemen from London, England, who took their idea to artist and writer Rob Lee who developed the concept, and the show was commissioned. ''Fireman Sam'' first appeared on S4C on 1 November 1987, and a few weeks later on BBC1 on 17 November. Vuzu was a South African youth-oriented television channel produced by M-Net for sister pay television platform DStv. History The channel launched on 1 August 2003 as "go", as a competitor to MTV. In March 2009, it was announced that the channel would be rebranded as Vuzu on 1 July 2009, tying into an attempted social network of the same name. The network also switched its programming schedule and discontinued some shows, to the complaint of some viewers. In 2014, a companion channel, Vuzu Amp, replaced M-Net Series, which took its current name of 1Magic on 29 January 2018 with a more localized schedule. Vuzu's schedule changed at the start of September 2018, along with its logo, focusing on more high-profile American sitcoms and dramas, with some local content. ''Jonah from Tonga'' ( to, Siōnā pe Tonga) is an Australian television sitcom that is written by and starring comedian Chris Lilley. The mockumentary series follows Jonah Takalua, a rebellious 14-year-old Australian boy of Tongan descent portrayed by the Anglo-Celtic Australian Lilley in brownface. The character had been introduced in Lilley's 2007 series '' Summer Heights High''. At the conclusion of that series, Jonah was expelled from Summer Heights High School. In this series, his father, Rocky Takalua, has sent him back to his homeland of Tonga to live with his uncle and their family in order to get Jonah's life back on track.
