The men's 800 metres at the 2014 IAAF World Indoor Championships took place on 7 and 9 March 2014. Poland's Marcin Lewandowski originally won the bronze medal, but a single step on the infield led to his disqualification and the promotion of Great Britain's Andrew Osagie to the third podium position. Ergo Arena
Ergo Arena (Hala Gdańsk-Sopot) is a multi-purpose indoor arena, that was opened in 2010. The boundary between two cities – Sopot and Gdańsk – runs through the very middle of the hall. The arena has a capacity of 11,409 people, for sports events and up to 15,000, with standing places, for concerts. Ryan Foster
Ryan Foster (born 26 August 1988) is an Australian middle distance runner and coach who specialises in the 800 metres. He graduated from Pennsylvania State University in 2011. He won four Big Ten 800 metres titles, was an All-American over 800 metres and the mile run. Ryan holds two Australian National records: the indoor 800 metres and the indoor 1000 metres, as well as five school records: indoor 800 metres, indoor 1000 metres, indoor mile, indoor distance medley relay, outdoor sprint medley relay. Ryan was also the first Tasmanian to break the 4-minute mile barrier. Johnny Gray
John Lee Gray Jr. (born June 19, 1960) is a retired American world class 800 meter runner from the mid-1980s to the late 1990s and the holder of the 600m world best. A four-time-Olympian (1984-1996) in 1985 he set the US record of 1:42.60 at a meet in Koblenz. That time puts Gray as the nineteenth fastest performer of all time. He came seventh in the 1984 Summer Olympics, fifth in 1988, and won the bronze medal at the Barcelona Olympics of 1992. In 1993 Gray was one of the favourites to win a gold medal at the World Championships in Stuttgart as he had won the A-race at the prestigious meeting in Zurich. However, he failed to qualify for the final in Stuttgart. He also set the world 600 meter record in 1986 at 1:12.81.
