2014 Hart District Council Election
The 2014 Hart District Council election took place on 22 May 2014 to elect members of Hart District Council in England. This was on the same day as other local elections, as well as the 2014 European Parliament elections. The election saw new boundaries, the first revision since 2002. 2015 Hart District Council Election
The 2015 Hart District Council election took place on 7 May 2015 to elect members of the Hart District Council in England. It was held on the same day as other local elections. Prior to this elections, the Conservatives held a plurality with 14 seats but did not hold a majority, whilst the Liberal Democrats and Community Campaign (Hart) both had 8 seats. The remaining seat was held by an independent. Results These were the second elections to be held with the new boundaries after the 2014 elections, which saw the Conservatives elected the largest party but without a majority, while Community Campaign (Hart) and the Liberal Democrats won nine seats each alongside won independent candidate. 2014 European Parliament Election In The United Kingdom
The 2014 European Parliament election was the United Kingdom's component of the 2014 European Parliament election, held on Thursday 22 May 2014, coinciding with the 2014 local elections in England and Northern Ireland. In total, 73 Members of the European Parliament were elected from the United Kingdom using proportional representation. England, Scotland and Wales use a closed-list party list system of PR (with the D'Hondt method), while Northern Ireland used the single transferable vote (STV). Most of the election results were announced after 10pm on Sunday 25 May – with the exception of Scotland, which did not declare its results until the following day – after voting closed throughout the 28 member states of the European Union. Howling Laud Hope
Alan "Howling Laud" Hope (born 16 June 1942) is a British politician and the Leader of the Official Monster Raving Loony Party (OMRLP). On the death of the party's founder Screaming Lord Sutch in 1999, Hope and his pet cat, Catmando, were jointly elected as leaders of the OMRLP. Since June 2002 Hope has been the party's sole leader following Catmando's death in a road accident. Hope was the first-ever OMRLP candidate to be elected to public office, when he was elected unopposed to a seat on Ashburton Town Council in Devon in 1987. He subsequently became the Mayor of Ashburton in 1998. In 2010 Hope was elected unopposed to Fleet Town Council in Hampshire. Hope's longtime friendship with satirist Jacob M. Appel formed the basis for the latter's novel, ''The Biology of Luck'', which is reportedly an allegory for modern British politics.
