2014 FIM Motocross World Championship Season
The 2014 FIM Motocross World Championship was the 58th F.I.M. Motocross World Championship season. It included 17 events including Qatar, Thailand, Brazil, Italy, The Netherlands, Great Britain, France, Germany, Sweden, Finland, Czech Republic, Belgium and Mexico. In the premier MXGP class, Tony Cairoli won his sixth consecutive championship title, matching the previous record set by Stefan Everts between 2001 and 2006. Cairoli, riding a KTM, won a total of 9 rounds and 15 races en route to the title, finishing 119 points clear of his nearest rival, Jeremy Van Horebeek, riding a Yamaha. In his second season at MXGP level, Van Horebeek achieved his maiden race victory at Loket in the Czech Republic, and also took his first round win in the process. Third place in the final championship standings went to Suzuki's Kevin Strijbos, who won the other race at Loket. Motocross World Championship
FIM Motocross World Championship is the premier championship of motocross racing, organized by the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM), divided into two distinct classes: MXGP and MX2. Race duration is 30 minutes plus two laps per race. The series runs 18 events with two races per class at each round. History The FIM Motocross World Championship is a worldwide motocross series sanctioned by the F.I.M. It was inaugurated in 1957 using a 500 cc engine displacement formula. In 1962 a 250cc class was added and in 1975, a 125cc class was introduced. Prior to 1957, the championship was known as the European Championship. In 2004, the F.I.M. changed the displacement formulas to reflect the changes in engine technology and as a move towards environmentally friendlier four-stroke engines. Jeremy Van Horebeek
Jeremy Van Horebeek (born 28 November 1989) is a Belgian professional motocross rider. Van Horebeek began competing in the 2021 MXGP riding the newly introduced Beta 450RX. He placed 9th overall in the Covid delayed season opener in Orlyonok, Russia. He was 7th in the 2022 MXoN open class. Loket (Sokolov District)
Loket (; german: Elbogen) is a town of in Sokolov District in the Karlovy Vary Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 3,100 inhabitants. The town centre itself features Loket Castle, a 12th-century Gothic castle. The town centre is well preserved and is protected by law as urban monument reservation. Administrative parts Villages of Dvory, Nadlesí and Údolí are administrative parts of Loket. Etymology Both Loket and Elbogen mean "elbow" in Czech and German, respectively. Hyvinkää (; sv, Hyvinge, ) is a city and municipality of Finland. It is located in the Uusimaa region, approximately north of the capital Helsinki. The city was chartered in 1960. Talavera de la Reina () is a city and municipality of Spain, part of the autonomous community of Castile–La Mancha. Valkenswaard () is a municipality and a town in the southern Netherlands, in the Metropoolregio Eindhoven of the province of North Brabant.
