2014 FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship
The 2014 FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship was the 17th edition of the FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship. The competition was played in Crete, Greece, from 8 to 20 July 2014. The winners were Turkey. To win the title they beat Spain with a score of 65–57. It was their first ever title win. The runners-up were Spain and third place were Serbia. Defending champions from 2013, Italy, came in at tenth place, their worst result since 2010. Kartal Özmızrak (born 29 August 1995) is a Turkish professional basketball player for Bahçeşehir Koleji of the Basketbol Süper Ligi (BSL) and Basketball Champions League. Nikola Janković ( sr, Никола Јанковић, born February 13, 1994) is a Serbian professional basketball player for KK FMP of the ABA League. Standing at , he plays the power forward position. Professional career Early years Janković began training basketball in hometown club Ekonomac. Then he played for the youth system of FMP Železnik and Crvena zvezda. After turning 18, in 2012 he refused to sign a professional contract with the club from Belgrade, only to move to Belgium's Spirou Charleroi. Over the season, he averaged 5.2 points and 2.6 rebounds per game in his first international season. Before the 2013–14 season, he moved to Verviers-Pepinster. FIBA U20 European Championship
The FIBA U20 European Championship, previously known as the European Championship for Men '22 and Under', is a men's youth basketball competition that was inaugurated with the 1992 edition. Through the 2004 edition, it was held biennially, but since 2005 edition, it is held every year. The tournament was originally an Under-22 age tournament, but it is now an Under-20 age tournament. The current champions are Spain. Starting with the 2005 B edition, a Division B tournament, which is the secondary level of the European Under-20 Basketball Championship, is also organized. Since the 2013 B edition, the top three placed teams at each year's Division B tournament are promoted to the next year's Division A Championship. Alberto Díaz Ortiz (born April 23, 1994) is a Spanish professional basketball player for Unicaja of the Liga ACB. At a height of 1.91 m (6'3") in shoes, and a weight of 86 kg (190 lbs.), he plays at the point guard position. Juan Sebastián "Sebas" Saiz Soto (born 15 July 1994) is a Spanish basketball player for Alvark Tokyo of the B.League. He also holds Dominican citizenship.
