2014 European Marathon Cup
The 2014 European Marathon Cup was the 10th edition of the quadrennial team marathon competition between European countries, which was held in Zürich, Switzerland on 16–17 August. The start and finish points were located on Bürkliplatz, and the route was set along a 10-kilometer circuit on the city streets. It was held in conjunction with the men's and women's individual marathon races at the 2014 European Athletics Championships. Each national team was ranked on the sum of the finishing times of their top three athletes. Each team could enter more than three athletes, and non-scoring athletes of the top three teams were also awarded medals. In total, 92 athletes from 14 European countries entered the team race. Women participated in 11 national teams (45 participants) and men in 10 teams (47 participants). Each country could put up to 6 people in each of the two races. Abdellatif Meftah
Abdellatif Meftah (born January 3, 1982, in Bouchane, Morocco) is a French long distance runner. He ran for Morocco at the Athletics at the 2004 Pan Arab Games, Pan Arab Games and won a gold medal in the half marathon for his home nation. Transferring his nationality, Meftah represented France at the 2010 IAAF World Cross Country Championships and finished in 40th place. He broke the French records in athletics, French record in the half marathon at the Semi-Marathon de Lille in September that year, running a time of 1:00:46 to erase Larbi Zeroual's mark from 1999. At the 2010 European Cross Country Championships he led the French men to the team title, although he just missed out on an individual medal with his fourth-place finish. Nadia Ejjafini (born 8 November 1977) is a Moroccan-born professional long-distance runner. She switched nationality from her birth country to Bahrain in 2003, and later became an Italian citizen by marriage in 2009. Biography She finished fourth in the 5000 metres at the 1998 World Junior Championships. She won the half marathon race at the 1999 Pan Arab Games, at the time representing Morocco. She won the Giro di Castelbuono race in 2002. Ejjafini competed at the World Cross Country Championships in 2003 and 2004 and in the marathon at the World Championships in 2003 and 2005.
