2014 European Hill Climb Championship
The 2014 FIA European Hill Climb Championship was the fifty-eighth edition of the FIA European Hill Climb Championship. The season consisted of twelve rounds, commencing on 11 April in France and ending on 21 September in Croatia. In Category 1, the championship was won by Macedonian driver Igor Stefanovski, for his first European title. Stefanovski won 8 of the 12 events to be held during the season, ultimately finishing 48.5 points clear of his closest rival Jaromír Malý. Another Czech driver, Jiří Los, finished in third place in the class championship, a further 18.5 points behind Malý; Los was the only championship regular to take a victory off Stefanovski, achieving his win at the Ecce Homo Šternberk on home soil. The remaining class victories were taken by António Nogueira at the Rampa Internacional da Falperra, Peter Jureňa at the Dobšinsky Kopec and the defending class champion, Tomislav Muhvić, on home soil at the final round, the Buzetski Dani. Hillclimbing, also known as hill climbing, speed hillclimbing, or speed hill climbing, is a branch of motorsport in which drivers compete against the clock to complete an uphill course. It is one of the oldest forms of motorsport, since the first known hillclimb at La Turbie near Nice, France, took place as long ago as 31 January 1897. The hillclimb held at Shelsley Walsh, in Worcestershire, England is the world's oldest continuously staged motorsport event still staged on its original course, having been first run in 1905. Europe Hillclimbs in continental Europe are usually held on courses which are several kilometres long, taking advantage of the available hills and mountains including the Alps. Mont Ventoux Hill Climb
Mont Ventoux Hill Climb is a car and motorcycle hillclimbing race course near Avignon in France. The course, up Mont Ventoux, starts from the village of Bédoin and rises for , to the observatory at the summit, for an average gradient of 7.4%. In 1970: "Andre Willem of Belgium was killed June 20 in practice for the Mont Ventoux Hill Climb near Carpentras. FIA International Hill Climb Cup
The FIA International Hill Climb Cup is an FIA-run motorsport competition held across World on public roads, created in 2014, resulting form the merge between FIA European Hill Climb Cup and FIA International Hill Climb Challenge Unlike circuit racing, each driver competes alone, starting from a point at the base of a mountain and reaching a finish point near the summit. The FIA International Hill Climb Cup allows single-seater cars, open-cockpit sports prototypes, and touring cars with varying degrees of technical preparation. Unlike the events of the FIA European Hill Climb Championship, for which the minimum course length must be 5 km, no minimum length is set for the roads used during the events of the International Hill Climb Cup. Reynard Motorsport was the world's largest racing car manufacturer in the 1980s. Initially based at Bicester and latterly at Reynard Park, Brackley, England the company built successful cars in Formula Ford 1600, Formula Ford 2000, Formula Vauxhall Lotus, Formula Three, Formula 3000 and CART.
