2014 Chicago Fire Season
The 2014 Chicago Fire season was the club's 19th year of existence, as well as their 17th season in Major League Soccer and their 17th consecutive year in the top-flight of American soccer. Chicago Fire began the regular season on March 9, 2014, with an away match against Chivas USA. The Men in Red concluded the regular season on October 24, 2014, with a home match against Houston Dynamo. Chicago finished the season with a 6-10-18 record and missed the playoffs for the fourth time in the past five seasons. With 18 drawn matches, the Fire set a new MLS record for most ties in a season, beating the previous record of 16 ties set in 2011 by Chicago Fire and New York Red Bulls. After 12 years with the team, midfielder Logan Pause retired at the end of the season. Pause spent all of his professional career playing for Chicago Fire. Bakary Soumaré
Bakary Soumaré (born 9 November 1985) is a Malian former professional footballer who played as a defender. He played professionally in the United States, France, Germany and Canada, and earned twelve caps for the Mali national team. Early life Born in Bamako, Mali, Soumaré moved as a two-year-old to France with this family, growing up in Saint-Denis, a suburb of Paris. At sixteen he left France for New York City where he attended the Catholic high school La Salle Academy for four years, eventually earning a degree. Hunter Jumper (born February 28, 1989) is an American soccer player who plays as a defender for National Premier Soccer League club Georgia Storm. College career Jumper played his collegiate career at Virginia. During his four years with the Cavaliers, he was named to the Atlantic Coast Conference All-Tournament team three times. Kyle Patrick Reynish (born November 3, 1983) is a former American soccer goalkeeper. Playing career Youth and college Reynish attended Hart High School in Santa Clarita, California where he had a 0.84 career goals against average, as well as setting the school's single-season (14) and career (38) shutout records. He played college soccer for the University of California Santa Barbara from 2002–2006, sitting out between his freshman and sophomore seasons as a redshirt in the 2003 season. Atlanta Blackhawks was an American soccer team based in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. Founded in 2009, the team played in the USL Premier Development League (PDL), the fourth tier of the American Soccer Pyramid, in the Southeast Division of the Southern Conference. Sean Everet Johnson (born May 31, 1989) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a goalkeeper for Major League Soccer club Toronto FC and the United States national team. Career College and amateur Johnson grew up in Lilburn, Georgia where he attended Brookwood High School. Logan Pause (born August 22, 1981) is an American former soccer player and coach who spent his entire twelve-year professional career with the Chicago Fire in Major League Soccer. Playing career College and amateur After attending Jordan High School in Durham, North Carolina, Pause played college soccer at the University of North Carolina from 2000 to 2002. After a 2002 season in which he co-captained the Tar Heels and played everywhere from central defense to attacking midfield due to injuries, Pause signed a Project-40 contract with MLS.
