2014 Brisbane Broncos Season
The 2014 Brisbane Broncos season was the 27th in the club's history. Coached by Anthony Griffin and co-captained by Justin Hodges and Corey Parker, they competed in the NRL's 2014 Telstra Premiership, finishing the regular season eighth (out of sixteen) to make it into the finals. The Broncos were then knocked out of contention in the first game of the finals against the North Queensland Cowboys. Season summary On 10 January, Sam Thaiday announced he was standing down from the Broncos captaincy. Thaiday had captained the Broncos since 2012 when he took over the captaincy from the retired Darren Lockyer. Justin Hodges and Corey Parker were named the club's new co-captains. On 21 July, Coach Anthony Griffin was informed his services would not be required in 2015. Griffin agreed to see out the remainder of the 2014 season. 2014 NRL Season
The 2014 NRL season was the 107th season of professional rugby league in Australia and the 17th season of the National Rugby League in Australia and New Zealand. The season started in New Zealand, for the Auckland Nines, replacing the Rugby League All Stars Match for the year, in the pre-season. After 26 rounds of the regular season, the Sydney Roosters were again crowned minor premiers and the competition had been reduced to a top eight teams to contest the finals series. The grand final was won by the South Sydney Rabbitohs, ending a 43-year premiership drought, winning 30-6 against the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs. Teams The lineup of teams remained unchanged for the 8th consecutive year. The 2014 season also presents a record 7 teams naming co-captains. Todd Lowrie (born 14 July 1983) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer. He played at and and played for the Newcastle Knights, Parramatta Eels, Melbourne Storm, New Zealand Warriors and Brisbane Broncos. David Hala (Born 25 October 1989) is a Tonga international rugby league footballer who plays for the Redcliffe Dolphins in the Queensland Cup. Jon Green (born 16 July 1985) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer. Early life Green was born in Southport, Queensland, Australia.
