2014 Belarusian First League
The 2014 Belarusian First League is the 24th season of 2nd level football in Belarus. It started in April and finished in November 2014. Team changes from 2013 season The winners of last season (Slutsk) were promoted to Belarusian Premier League. They were replaced by last-placed team of 2013 Belarusian Premier League table ( Slavia Mozyr). The runners-up of last season (Gorodeya) lost the promotion/relegation play-off to Dnepr Mogilev (11th-placed Premier League team) and both clubs stayed in their respective leagues. Two teams that finished at the bottom of 2013 season table ( SKVICH Minsk and Polotsk) relegated to the Second League. They were replaced by two best teams of 2013 Second League ( Gomelzheldortrans and Neman Mosty). Neman Mosty eventually refused promotion due to insufficient financing and returned to Second League. Belarusian First League
The Belarusian First League is the second tier of professional football in Belarus. It was created in 1992, following the Belarusian independence. History and format The typical format of the league involves 16 clubs playing a double round-robin tournament over 30 matchdays (with the exception of shortened 1992 and 1995 seasons, which were a single round-robin tournaments). On several occasions the number of participating teams was smaller (15 or 14), due to last minute withdrawals and no teams available for replacement. In most of the seasons, two best teams are getting promoted to Belarusian Premier League, while two worst teams are relegated Belarusian Second League. FC SKVICH Minsk
FC SKVICH Minsk was a Belarusian football club based in Minsk, last playing in the Belarusian Second League. History The team was founded in late 2000 by travel company SKVICH, which had had investments in sport and football projects (such as their own football school) for several years. Before the start of their first season, after gaining support from Belarusian Railways, the team was renamed Lokomotiv Minsk. The team won the Second League in 2001 and finished 3rd in the First League the following year and was promoted to the Belarusian Premier League. Lokomotiv finished in the relegation zone of the table in three of their four seasons in the Premier League; twice they were promoted after only one season, until they got stuck in the First League following relegation in 2008. FC Slonim-2017
Slonim-2017 is a Belarusian football club based in Slonim, Grodno Region. History The team was founded in 2013 as a result of merger between Beltransgaz Slonim and Kommunalnik Slonim. The new team is considered a successor to Beltransgaz. It inherited entire Beltransgaz squad with addition of a few Kommunalnik players, as well as Beltransgaz training facilities and a stadium previously shared by both teams. FC Smolevichi ( be, ФК Смалявічы, russian: ФК Смолевичи), is a Belarusian football club based in Smolevichi, Minsk Oblast. History The team was founded in 2009 as Vigvam Smolevichi. FC Bereza-2010 (or Byaroza-2010) was a Belarusian association football, football club based in Byaroza, Brest Oblast. History The team was founded in 1989 as ''Stroitel Bereza''. They played in Belarusian SSR league from 1989 to 1991. In 1992, they joined newly created Belarusian Second League. After successful 1995 season they were promoted to the Belarusian First League, First League. Before the start of 1997 season they were renamed to ''FC Bereza''. FC Rechitsa-2014 () was a Belarusian football club based in Rechytsa. History The club was founded in 1952 as Krasnaya Zvezda Rechitsa (''Red Star'') and spent Soviet years playing in the Belarusian SSR league or in lower regional leagues. In 1960, they became Dneprovets Rechitsa, then Dnepr Rechitsa in 1962. In 1977, they were renamed to Neftyanik Rechitsa (''Oiler'') and in 1980 to Sputnik Rechitsa (''Satellite'').
