2014 AFL Under 18 Championships
The 2014 NAB AFL Under 18 Championships was the 19th edition of the AFL Under 18 Championships. Eight teams competed in the championships: Vic Metro, Vic Country, South Australia and Western Australia in Division 1, and New South Wales/Australian Capital Territory (NSW/ACT), Northern Territory, Queensland and Tasmania in Division 2. The competition was played over five rounds across two divisions. South Australia and New South Wales/Australian Capital Territory (NSW/ACT) were the Division 1 and Division 2 champions, respectively. Larke Medal
The AFL Under-19 Championships (for sponsorship reasons, the NAB AFL Under-19 Championships) is an annual Australian national underage representative championship in Australian rules football tournament. It is seen as one of the main pathways towards being drafted into a team in the fully professional Australian Football League (AFL). The National Championships grew out of the Teal Cup which began in 1953 as a junior representative competition between the Australian states of Queensland and New South Wales. It was rebranded in 1976 to reflect its expansion to include teams from each Australian state and mainland territory, rotated between host cities. In the absence of a national league, and less regular senior competition, it grew into one of the most important competitions in the country. Jake Johansen (footballer)
Jake Johannsen (born July 28, 1960) is an American comedian, writer, and actor. Early life Johannsen attended Iowa State University in the early 1980s, originally majoring in veterinary medicine, and then later changing to chemical engineering. He left after three years in college and relocated to San Francisco, California, in order to pursue a career in comedy. Johannsen made his debut at Cobb's Comedy Club in San Francisco, and by 1986 had won the 11th Annual San Francisco International Comedy Competition. Peter Wright (born 8 September 1996) is an Australian rules footballer who plays for the Essendon Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL), having been initially drafted to the Gold Coast Suns with pick 8 in the 2014 AFL draft. AFL career Gold Coast: 2015–2020 Wright established himself as a key marking forward, using his considerable height to his advantage. Caleb Daniel (born 7 July 1996) is a professional Australian rules footballer who plays for the Western Bulldogs in the Australian Football League (AFL). Known for his precise short kicking from half back, Daniel has been recognised statistically as one of the most effective short kicks in the game. When he was recruited in 2014 he was listed as the shortest player (standing at 167 cm) in the AFL, and is one of the few players who regularly wears a protective helmet, having done so since his playing days at junior level. Rhys Mathieson (born 10 January 1997) is a professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Brisbane Lions in the Australian Football League (AFL). At 1.87 metres (6 ft 2 in) tall and weighing 84 kilograms (185 lb), he plays as a midfielder and is known for his ability to win contested ball. Darcy Moore (born 25 January 1996) is an Australian rules footballer who currently plays for the Collingwood Football Club. Paul Ahern (born 1 August 1996) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Greater Western Sydney Giants and the North Melbourne Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL).
