2013–14 VfL Wolfsburg Season
The 2013–14 VfL Wolfsburg season was the 69th season in the club's football history. In 2013–14 the club played in the Bundesliga, the top tier of German football. It was the club's 17th consecutive season in this league, having been promoted from the 2. Bundesliga in 1997. The club also took part in the 2013–14 edition of the DFB-Pokal, where it reached the semi-finals before losing to Borussia Dortmund. Verein für Leibesübungen Wolfsburg e. V., commonly known as VfL Wolfsburg () or Wolfsburg, is a German professional sports club based in Wolfsburg, Lower Saxony. The club grew out of a multi-sports club for Volkswagen workers in the city of Wolfsburg. It is best known for its football department, but other departments include badminton, handball and athletics. Leon Hougaard Andreasen (born 23 April 1983) is a Danish former professional footballer who played as a defender or midfielder. He won 20 caps and scored three goals for the Denmark national team. Biography Born in Aidt, Jutland, Andreasen started playing football at local club Hammel GF. Luiz Gustavo Dias (born 23 July 1987) is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder for Saudi Professional League club Al-Nassr. He began his career as a left back, but has played mostly as a defensive midfielder, and also as a centre back. Mewa Arena (; stylised as MEWA ARENA; also known as the 1. FSV Mainz 05 Arena due to UEFA sponsorship regulations) is a multi-purpose stadium in Mainz, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, that opened in July 2011. It is used for football matches, and hosts the home matches of the German Bundesliga side Mainz 05. The stadium has a capacity of 34,034, 19,700 seated, and replaced the Bruchwegstadion. Jermaine Junior Jones (born November 3, 1981) is an American former professional soccer player who played as a defensive midfielder. Dirk Jan Klaas "Klaas-Jan" Huntelaar (; born 12 August 1983) is a Dutch former professional footballer who played as a striker.
