2013–14 QMJHL Season
The 2013–14 QMJHL season is the 45th season of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). The regular season consisted of 18 teams playing 68 games each, beginning on September 12, 2013, and ending on March 15, 2014. Team changes *The P.E.I. Quebec Major Junior Hockey League
The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (french: Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec; abbreviated ''QMJHL'' in English, ''LHJMQ'' in French) is one of the three major junior ice hockey leagues that constitute the Canadian Hockey League. The league includes teams in the provinces of Quebec, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island. The current president of the QMJHL is Gilles Courteau. The President's Cup is the championship trophy of the league. The QMJHL champion then goes on to compete in the Memorial Cup against the OHL and WHL champions, and the CHL host team. The QMJHL had traditionally adopted a rapid and offensive style of hockey. Former QMJHL players hold many of the Canadian Hockey League's career and single season offensive records. Chicoutimi Saguenéens
The Chicoutimi Saguenéens are a junior ice hockey team which plays in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). The team is based out of Chicoutimi, Quebec, Canada (now a part of the city of Saguenay) and owned by the City of Saguenay. The team plays its home games at the Centre Georges-Vézina. History The Chicoutimi Saguenéens franchise was granted for the 1973–74 season. The team's name, ''Saguenéens'', literally means "People from the Saguenay." The current junior team is only the most recent to use the name. The "Sags", as they are popularly nicknamed, have won the President's Cup twice in their history, in 1990–91 and in 1993–94. In both instances they advanced to the Memorial Cup, failing to advance past the round-robin stage on each occasion. Guillaume Gélinas
Guillaume Gélinas (born June 14, 1993) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman. He last played for UK Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL) side Belfast Giants in Northern Ireland. Playing career Gelinas played junior hockey for the Val-d'Or Foreurs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League from the 2009–10 season. He received the Emile Bouchard Trophy as the league's best defenceman during the 2013–14 QMJHL season but was not selected in the NHL draft. On July 1, 2014, Gelinas signed a three-year entry level contract with the Minnesota Wild. Anthony Duclair
Anthony Duclair (born August 26, 1995) is a Canadian professional ice hockey forward currently playing for the Florida Panthers of the National Hockey League (NHL). Duclair was selected by the New York Rangers in the third round, 80th overall, of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, the organization with which he began his NHL career. Duclair has also played in the NHL for the Arizona Coyotes, Chicago Blackhawks, Columbus Blue Jackets and Ottawa Senators. Nikolaj Ehlers
Nikolaj Ehlers (born 14 February 1996) is a Danish professional ice hockey forward for the Winnipeg Jets of the National Hockey League (NHL). Ehlers previously played ice hockey in Switzerland, where his father Heinz was a coach, and then moved to North America in 2013 to play with the Halifax Mooseheads of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). After one year with Halifax he was selected ninth overall by the Jets in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, and spent one more season in juniors before making the NHL in 2015. Internationally Ehlers has played for Denmark at both the junior and senior level, including at three World Championships. Jonathan Drouin
Jonathan Drouin (born March 28, 1995) is a Canadian professional ice hockey left winger for the Montreal Canadiens of the National Hockey League (NHL). After a stellar 2012–13 season with the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL)'s Halifax Mooseheads, in which he was named CHL Player of the Year and won the Memorial Cup, Drouin was selected by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the first round, third overall, of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. Anthony Mantha (born September 16, 1994) is a Canadian professional ice hockey forward who is currently playing for the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League (NHL). Mantha was drafted 20th overall by the Detroit Red Wings in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. Sherbrooke Phoenix
The Sherbrooke Phoenix is a major junior ice hockey team based in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada, that plays in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). The team plays its home games at the Palais des Sports Léopold-Drolet. History The franchise was granted as a replacement for the Lewiston Maineiacs, which folded at the end of the 2010–11 QMJHL season. On May 31, 2011, the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League held a conference call to prepare an offer to purchase the team from Mark Just for 3.5 million dollars. Rouyn-Noranda Huskies
The Rouyn-Noranda Huskies are a junior ice hockey team in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League based in Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec, Canada. The team plays its home games at the Aréna Glencore. The Huskies finished first overall in the QMJHL, during the 2007–08, 2015–16 and 2018–19 seasons, winning the Jean Rougeau Trophy. The team has won two President's Cups, and represented the QMJHL at the 2016 Memorial Cup, and as the 2019 Memorial Cup winners. History The Rouyn-Noranda franchise started out as the Montreal Junior Canadiens. While in Montreal, the team won three Memorial Cups in 1950, 1969 and 1970. Gatineau Olympiques
The Gatineau Olympiques are a major junior ice hockey team based in Gatineau, Quebec, Canada, that plays in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). Starting with the 2021–22 season, the Olympiques play home games at Centre Slush Puppie, having previously played at the Robert Guertin Centre dating back to its beginnings in the Central Junior A Hockey League.
