Newcastle United Jets Football Club, commonly known as Newcastle Jets, is an Australian professional soccer club based in Newcastle, New South Wales. It competes in the country's premier competition, the A-League, under licence from The Australian Professional Leagues (APL). formerly under licence by Football Australia. The club was formed in 2000 when it joined the National Soccer League (NSL) and was one of only three former NSL clubs to join in the formation of the A-League. Newcastle Jets have won one A-League championship, after defeating rivals Central Coast Mariners 1–0 in the 2008 A-League Grand Final. Ruben Anton Zadkovich ( hr, Zadković, ; born 23 May 1986) is a former Australian professional football (soccer) player, and manager of Perth Glory. He played for 6 clubs in a career that spanned between England and Australia, notably becoming a crowd favourite at Newcastle Jets FC in the A-League. Ben Kennedy (goalkeeper)
Benjamin Kennedy (born 14 February 1987) is an Australian professional soccer player who plays as a goalkeeper for Lambton Jaffas in the National Premier Leagues Northern NSW. Club career Newcastle Jets Kennedy was a train-on player for the Newcastle Jets, but was brought into the full squad for the 2006–07 season. Until half-way through the season, Newcastle only had the inexperienced Kennedy as a registered goalkeeper in their squad, until former Socceroo Ante Covic joined the squad. Michael Bridges (born 5 August 1978) is an English professional football manager and retired former player. As a player, he was a striker who notably played in the Premier League for Sunderland, Leeds United and Newcastle United, as well as a brief spell in the top flight for Bolton Wanderers that yielded no appearances. James Robert Virgili (born 8 July 1992) is an Australian retired professional soccer player who last played for Newcastle Jets in the A-League. Newcastle Jets On 4 January 2009, he made his senior debut as a substitute against Wellington Phoenix. Joseph "Joey" Arthur Gibbs (born 13 June 1992) is an Australian football (soccer) player who plays for Keflavík.
