2013–14 New Jersey Devils Season
The 2013–14 New Jersey Devils season was the 40th season for the National Hockey League franchise that was established on June 11, 1974, and 32nd season since the franchise relocated from Colorado prior to the 1982–83 NHL season. For the second-straight season, the Devils failed to make the playoffs. Regular season Stadium Series The Devils played their cross-town rivals, the New York Rangers, at the 2014 NHL Stadium Series at Yankee Stadium in The Bronx, New York City, on January 26, 2014. This was the first stadium series game ever played in the NHL's history. It was also the first time that the Devils played an outdoor game. Eastern Conference (NHL)
The Eastern Conference (french: Conférence de l'Est) is one of two conferences in the National Hockey League (NHL) used to divide teams. Its counterpart is the Western Conference. History Originally named the Prince of Wales Conference, it was created in 1974 when the NHL realigned its teams into two conferences and four divisions. Because the new conferences and divisions had little to do with North American geography, geographical references were removed. The Prince of Wales Trophy dates back to 1925, when it was donated to the League by the Prince of Wales, who later became King Edward VIII and then the Duke of Windsor. The 2013–14 Philadelphia Flyers season was the 47th season for the National Hockey League franchise that was established on June 5, 1967. Off-season The Flyers first major move of the off-season was trading for the negotiating rights to New York Islanders defenseman Mark Streit, an impending unrestricted free agent, for a fourth-round pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft and minor league forward Shane Harper. Streit signed a four-year, $21 million contract with the Flyers. Following the 2012–13 NHL lockout each team was granted two compliance buyouts to be exercised after the 2012–13 season and/or after the 2013–14 season that would not count against the salary cap in any further year, regardless of the player's age. The 2013–14 Montreal Canadiens season was the 105th season of play for the franchise that was founded on December 4, 1909, and was their 97th season in the National Hockey League. The Montreal Canadiens defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning by sweeping them in the first round. They upset the top team in the NHL, the Boston Bruins, in a hard fought seven game series, before falling to the New York Rangers in the Eastern Conference Final in six games. Keith Kinkaid
Keith Patrick Kinkaid (born July 4, 1989) is an American professional ice hockey goaltender for the Providence Bruins in the American Hockey League (AHL) while under contract to the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League (NHL). Playing career Kinkaid graduated from Sachem High School East in 2007. Kinkaid played for the St. Louis Bandits of the North American Hockey League for the 2008–09 season. In February 2009, Kinkaid committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Union College. That April, Kinkaid was named MVP and Goaltender of the Year after he led all NAHL goaltenders in wins, goals-against average, save percentage and shutouts. The 2013–14 New York Rangers season was the franchise's 87th season of play and their 88th season overall. It was the Rangers' first season in the newly-created Metropolitan Division, which was created during the NHL's realignment in the 2013 offseason.
