2013–14 Lebanese Basketball League
The 2013–2014 season was the 18th edition of the Lebanese Basketball League. The regular season began on Friday, January 31, 2014, and ended on Saturday April 19, 2014. The playoffs began on Friday, April 25 and ended with the 2014 Finals on Tuesday June 17, 2014, after Riyadi Beirut defeated Sagesse Beirut in 6 games to win their ninth title (new format). Lebanese Basketball League
The Lebanese Basketball League is the top-tier professional men's basketball league in Lebanon. It is organized annually as a national championship with playoffs and a national cup by the Lebanese Basketball Federation (FLB). Currently, the league consists of 12 teams, of which six are located in Beirut. The most successful club in the history of the league is Al Riyadi who have won a record 16 championships. History The initial Lebanese basketball league was formed in as early as the 1950s; however, it was stopped during the Lebanese Civil War. In 1992, the league was reformed into a fully professional format. In 1997, Sporting Club (Al Riyadi) finished as Lebanese champions, allowing them to participate in the 1998 FIBA Asia Champions Cup . There, they finished 3rd place. Hassan Whiteside
Hassan Niam Whiteside (born June 13, 1989) is an American professional basketball player who last played for the Utah Jazz of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the Marshall Thundering Herd before being selected in the second round by the Sacramento Kings in the 2010 NBA draft. After joining the Miami Heat in 2014, Whiteside was named to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team in 2016, when he also led the NBA in blocks. He led the league in rebounding in 2017. Robert Christopher Daniels (born April 19, 1984) is an American professional basketball player who plays for Syrian Basketball League club Al Nawair. He played college basketball for Texas A&M–Corpus Christi before starting his professional career in 2008. Rodrigue Akl
Rodrigue Akl (born 30 September 1988) is a Lebanese basketball player for Beirut Club of the Lebanese Basketball League. He is a six-foot-one-inch tall point guard, and is generally regarded as one of the best players of Lebanon at his position. Club career Akl started playing basketball when he was eight years old, playing for Champville SC's youth teams. Akl then made his professional debut when he played for Blue Stars and later signed with Sporting Al Riyadi Beirut for one season and then moved to Anibal Zahle. Fadi El Khatib ( ar, فادي الخطيب; born January 1, 1979), nicknamed "the Lebanese Tiger", is a Lebanese professional basketball player who plays in the Lebanese Basketball League for Sagesse. El Khatib played for several teams in the Lebanese Basketball League, and also played abroad in Syria, Ukraine and China.
